Comment les améliorations de l'infrastructure iRAP ont sauvé 700 000 vies : une étude quantitative Les changements d'infrastructure et des vitesses plus sûres ont permis d'éviter près de 700 000 décès dans 74 pays (étude de mai 2024 de l'Université Johns Hopkins et d'iRAP). Les infrastructures routières dangereuses sont l'un des principaux facteurs de risque pour la sécurité routière. Le plan d'investissement pour des routes plus sûres (SRIP) d'iRAP détermine les améliorations routières les plus rentables pour prévenir décès et blessures graves. Il fournit des contre-mesures de sécurité potentielles et leur analyse de rentabilité. Chaque SRIP évalue l'impact de 94 contre-mesures de sécurité routière éprouvées + 23 spécifiques aux zones urbaines. Pour l’évaluation des interventions, les protocoles iRAP ont été utilisés pour collecter 1,8 million de kilomètres cartographiés par risques d'accident et 1,5 million de kilomètres de score par étoiles et le nombre de blessures graves et mortelles (FSI) dans 128 pays. How iRAP Infrastructure Upgrades Saved 700,000 Lives : a quantitative study Infrastructure changes and safer speeds prevented nearly 700,000 deaths in 74 countries (May 2024 study from @Johns Hopkins University and @iRAP). Unsafe road infrastructure is one of the major risk factors for traffic safety. The iRAP Safer Roads Investment Plan (SRIP) determine the most cost-effective road upgrades to prevent deaths and serious injuries. They provide likely safety countermeasures and their business case. Each SRIP evaluates the impact of 94 proven road safety countermeasures + 23 specific for urban areas. Evaluation for the real-world implementation of interventions : the iRAP protocols have been used to collect 1.8 million km of Crash Risk Mapping and 1.5 million km of Star Rating and fatal and serious injuries (FSI) estimations in 128 countries. With an observational before-and-after study design, this report estimated the FSI saved through use of the iRAP protocols. After re-surveying the roads, re-rating road safety, and re-estimating the FSI of 1,039 projects in 74 countries, results show that the implementation of iRAP’s proposed countermeasures saves 159,936 FSI every year. On average, assessing 3 km is associated with a annual saving of 1.08 FSI per year. Prevention works.
