🌍 CLG Europe Member dsm-firmenich hosted the Global Ruminant days in Vienna last month. 🌱 The event focused on a central theme: 𝐇𝐨𝐰 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐭𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐥𝐨𝐠𝐲 𝐞𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐦𝐨𝐫𝐞 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐞𝐟𝐟𝐢𝐜𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐭? Ivo Lansbergen, President of Animal Nutrition & Health, highlighted three key elements for sustainability: • Affordable proteins • A decent income for the farmers • The value chain and taking care of the environment 📈 As Lansbergen puts it, "The game is shifting," and consumer decisions will increasingly factor in the environmental footprint alongside price and quality. This shift is supported by increasing regulations and the growing importance of sustainability for investment opportunities. 💡In response to today's #GBEnergy announcement, Beverley Cornaby, Director of the Corporate Leaders Groups UK says: “Achieving our 2030 domestic and international targets requires unprecedented levels of investment by both the public and private sectors. With the roll-out of GB Energy and collaboration with the Crown Estate, the government shows it is taking this issue seriously. However, the devil will be in the detail. ⌛ Director of the UK Corporate Leaders Group, Beverley Cornaby, reacts to the news from Climate Change Committee that the UK is off track for its 2030 target: “While the UK should applaud itself for the progress made to date in reducing its emissions, the news from the Climate Change Committee that we are off track to meet our 2030 target is no surprise. It follows a period of pessimistic, net-zero rhetoric and policy reversals that dented the UK’s climate leadership position and reduced confidence in low carbon investment. "The new government has the opportunity to do what business has been calling for and put in place a clear, consistent, long-term plan. Labour must demonstrate strong leadership in bringing businesses and households with them in delivering a rapid shift away from fossil fuels and reinvigorating the UK as the place to invest in the low carbon economy.”
