Which brings me to one of my favorite moments, when 3P0 recognizes Ani. It's amazing how the AI is so developed it too has the ability to extrapolate and recognize a grown up human they haven't seen since they were a child.

Another strong scene, I agree. I love Threepio throughout Attack of the Clones, and I always smile whenever somebody reminds me of his fourth-quarter humour, but that initial re-introduction makes a real impact, too.

Gosh darn it, there are so many great moments in this movie! I might watch it again this evening.

not the biggest fan of this one (am i a intruder here??) but i do appreciate GL's attempts to bring some light comedy to the story (Obiwan's "good job!" in Geonosis always gets me!)

This thread rang? Tardy, I know. But j made it nonetheless.

Highlight of the movie — the geonosis battle, Jango fett and padme. Low points — slow middle and removal of padme’s family in deleted scenes. Also I wanted a new score for the battle, but we got the federation droid army theme. Oh well. If I could go back to 2002 — I wouldn’t.

Best cinema experience since 1999. Sonic bomb things. Speeder chase. The introduction of Dooku. Jango. Obi-Wan's hair. And many more things.
    It was/is great Star Wars.

In a way, this is the Star Wars movie that feels the most like ANH to me, outside of ANH itself. There's a bleakness to it, and a grimness, delivered with a certain Lucas air that at times lines up perfectly with the original vibe.
    A fascinating thing to behold.

AOTC clones brought us one of the best scenes in Star wars with Anakin going after his mother on a speeder bike as Duel of the fates plays. Such an heavy and emotional scene that shows the beginning of Anakins downfall to the darkside. Also that fight with Jango Fett and Obi Wan Kenobi on Kamino might be one of my favourite parts in that movie. Would i change some of the romance scenes between Padme and Anakin? Yes, but does it mean they dont still have importance? No, of course not. I just think that Attack of the clones was a neccessary midway point to show Anakins development into who he is in ROTS and Hayden is a brilliant actor and i dont think it was his fault that some of the dialogue might of been clunky. Besides that arena fight on geonosis as a kid was breathtaking as you saw hundreds of jedi fighting alongside one another lol.

Funny! My experience was somewhat similar when I first watched AOTC. What went through my mind was something like "now finally SW is back". Sadly, ROTJ (and the Ewoks movies) was one of the factors that led to my losing interest in the franchise. Neither the special editions nor TPM did much to revive it. But somehow AOTC managed to do just that. So, I went into ROTS with way higher expectations (which were met!) than I did into TPM.
Just a general question for those who strongly dislike AOTC: is it just or mainly the fireplace or lakeside dialogs, dislike of the actor himself, bad special effects, all of those? Do you find at least some redeeming qualities in it, i.e. Coruscant chase, search for Shmi, Geonosis ground battle, asteroid chase...? Or nothing to like about it at all?
For me, unfortunately, that would be true for the entire ST. Under torture, I just MIGHT admit I found some of the opening scenes like SD wreck in desert, and possibly Luke having retreated to that island, to be somewhat appealing, but not much else. :(

It's my favorite of the lot. It has the most going on thematically, symbolically, and plot-wise of any of the films. I thought the special effects were superb, and I still feel that way. The score is beautiful and intricate. The dialog never bothered me. I appreciate Star Wars' cornball nature. When Anakin talks about sand, or about how he can't breath, it isn't real; he's speaking symbolically. It's fine. Haydn's performance is fine. George was finally let off the hook for this film, technologically speaking, and I think it's the purest realization of what he wanted Star Wars to be of all the films. It breathes new life into the word epic.

Time passes on and I appreciate more and more AOTC which is a good sign. A groundbreaking movie, and not only technically, but also visually. The breathtaking landscapes (yes, real ones) still make me dream to be there (I actually have visited some places because of the movie). And while AOTC is still criticized for its story, I think it has great storytelling. I love the scenes of Anakin and Padme together. Little stolen moments of happiness before the great tragedy. The scene of the wedding in the end is still one of my favorites for that matter.

When Padme told Anakin "I think our lives are about to be destroyed anyway" was that foreshadowing what was to happen with them in Revenge of The Sith?

I certainly see it that way. Not that Padmé would have known. She thought they might possibly be killed in the arena. But as a viewer knowing the big picture, it does feel a lot like foreshadowing.
Absolutely. In fact, it is to me THE favorite finale of any SW movie, even outdoing the ANH throne room. The AOTC finale is so tragic in that it looks like a happy ending on the surface, while everyone knows that in fact this may actually be the very last "happy" moment either Anakin or Padmé will have; not the beginning (as weddings are meant to be), but end of happiness, which was never even there for them, except maybe that short moment. From then on everything will gradually get darker. Music-wise, the sequence is brilliant as well. Also my favorite in that respect. The rise of the Empire is foreshadowed both visually and musically at Coruscant, then fades into the Across the Stars theme, never really happy, but tragically beautiful and somber somehow.
All its flaws acknowledged (YES, there may be many), I still do find AOTC to be somewhat of a masterpiece.

Even though among the prequels Revenge of the Sith is my favorite. I completely that the music used during the end of Attack of The Clones is some of the best in any of the movies.

    Yep, it’s a metaphor.

There is also the possible implication that the audience of Geonosians bloodthirstily anticipating their possible demise is us, the audience to the couple’s tragic story unfolding.
The moment they are brought out into the arena is so moving.

Another detail: while I always like the so called sand scene, I was amazed to see that many people dislike it. I still cannot understand why, I mean it fits in Padme and Anakin characters but most important, it fits in the movie perfectly. However, I see that in the last year's many people dare to appreciate this scene. For example in this video that is very close to what I think about the sand scene.

Agreed. Yet another example that Anakin is always open and honest with Padmé. He never boasts, and talks about his weaknesses instead. And it's not like he is trying to trick Padmé into anything. No, I feel his words, especially in all the Naboo scenes, to be very genuine and heart-felt. And I feel he is honestly comfortable on Naboo by that lake, understandable since he grew up as a slave in a very harsh and extreme environment. He simply tells her that. In any other movie that would have been acceptable, but for some reason it gets bashed to no end when said in a SW movie. I seriously don't understand some of the "fans". What exactly is it that they WANT? I have nothing against constructive criticism. But I mostly read toxic negativity and mindless bashing.

It's wonderful dialogue. It feels natural, with a bit of youthful awkwardness to it. I've always liked it.

I’ve always been moved by the sand line and its allusion to the scars of his upbringing on Tatooine. Watching the film for the first time it never occurred to me for even a second that it was a moment deserving ridicule. Quite the opposite.

I wonder if PT fans who felt hurt by OT naysayers and downright hate can empathise with fans of the acolyte I see so many parallels decades apart as someone who loves it all (even my least favourite aotc) it's so sad

This man! History is repeating itself. Its quite frankly baffling and embarrassing that people who had to fight FOR the PT against the hate back in the day now in parts does the same to new generation content and fans. Guys like SWTheory should be ashamed of themselves. Hypocrit at its best!

It's a good thing I don't watch YouTubers, let alone follow any. When I do use YT once in a while it's for music, some serious documentaries or Gordon Ramsay if I want to have a good laugh.

Revisiting this thread to throw AOTC some love. ❤️

Needs more love from the Black Series toy line. And I’d love to see a special edition or theatrical rerelease.

Saw Attack of the Clones on a cinema screen for the first time since 2002 on Sunday. Had a blast! Yes, the romantic dialogue still leaves a lot to be desired at times but my goodness there is so much to enjoy with "Clones" - Especially that final 25 minutes when it's just one action sequence after another after another, etc...

Yoda coming in to face off against Sir Christopher Lee is one of the all time iconic moments of cinema... :yoda: :greensaber: I remember how everyone went nuts at that moment when I first saw it in 2002. I couldn't stop smiling then and I couldn't stop smiling on Sunday either. :D

This time the audience didn't go nuts of course, but walking out I heard a kid, maybe 10 or 11, talking excitedly to his dad about Yoda and C3PO which was very sweet (BTW, the screening I was at was completely full other than the front seats close to the screen - Not bad for a movie supposedly hated by everyone)

The world building is exceptional as well. And the final montage... when you realize that the beginning of the Clone Army is really the beginning of the Empire followed by Anakin and Padme's doomed marriage. They turn their back to the camera and their fate is sealed... =D=

Which leads to the Big One - Revenge of the Sith - Which I'll be seeing with an audience on a cinema screen for the first time since 2005, this Sunday!
