1961 Cadillac Series 62 Convertible

This 1961 Cadillac Series 62 convertible is refinished in black and orange over black and white upholstery and is powered by a 390ci V8 linked with a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. According to the seller, the car remained with its original owner in Michigan until 2023. Equipment includes a power-operated black convertible top, power steering, power-assisted brakes, 15″ steel wheels with color-keyed ribbed covers, a power-adjustable front bucket seat, a front center console, power windows, seat belts, an aftermarket stereo, and air conditioning. The seller purchased the car in 2023, and subsequent work included installing a CPP brake booster kit and Summit Quiet-Flow mufflers. This Series 62 is now offered with spare parts, recent service records, historical photos, and a clean Florida title in the seller’s name.

The car left the factory finished in Ebony (10) and was refinished in black and orange in 2015. The front grille and bumper ends were also replaced with 1962-style components, and the removed parts are included in the sale. Exterior details include a replacement power-operated black convertible top, a black boot cover, quad headlights, a driver-side mirror, rear-wheel spats, and tail fins with integrated taillights as well as chrome bumpers, window surrounds, and trim. There is a crack in the paint on the right fender skirt.

The 15″ steel wheels feature color-keyed ribbed covers with Cadillac-crested hubs and are mounted with Cooper Liner Touring SLE tires measuring P235/70. Power steering was standard, and braking is provided by power-assisted drums. A CPP power brake booster kit was installed in July 2024.

The cabin houses front bucket seats and a rear bench upholstered in black & white along with a color-coordinated dashboard, door panels, and carpeting. Interior equipment includes a power-adjustable front seat, a front center console, power windows, a remote-adjustable driver’s side mirror, seat belts, a retro-style AM/FM radio, air conditioning, and Cadillac-crest embroidered floor mats. The window and seat switches are said to have been replaced. Modifications include a USB outlet in the glove box, a power antenna switch in the ashtray, and an electric fuel pump switch under the dash.

The two-spoke steering wheel fronts a horizontal 120-mph speedometer and gauges for coolant temperature and fuel level. The five-digit odometer shows 14k miles, approximately 300 of which were added under current ownership.

The 390ci V8 was factory equipped with a four-barrel carburetor and was rated at 325 horsepower and 430 lb-ft of torque. Work in 2015 is said to have included the the installation of an alternator, an R134a air conditioning system, a dual exhaust system, and an electric fuel pump, and Summit Quiet-Flow mufflers were installed in July 2024.

Power is routed to the rear wheels through a four-speed Hydra-Matic automatic transmission. A transmission leak is noted, and a transmission pan gasket is included in the sale.
