It’s never too early to plan for college basketball season, as opponents and dates are coming into focus for the Big 4’s men’s and women’s basketball programs for the 2024-25 season.
The University at Buffalo men will play at least two Power Four opponents, while first-year Canisius men’s basketball coach Jim Christian will lead the Griffs in a nonconference game at Maryland. Â
The UB women have dates confirmed with three Big 4 opponents, as the Bulls pursue a Mid-American Conference championship in Becky Burke's third year as head coach.
Canisius is expected to continue its women’s basketball home-and-home series with Illinois, coached by former Golden Griffins great Shauna Green – the all-time leading scorer for Canisius women’s basketball. The Griffs will also play at Penn State on Nov. 7, as head coach Tiffany Swoffard will return to Happy Valley; the first-year Griffs coach was an assistant with the Nittany Lions last season.
