Alpha House has been partnering with an organization called Soup Sisters for a few years now, benefitting from their incredible charitable work creating volunteer events in which companies make soup that is then donated to local agencies. This week we were on the receiving end of a hearty chicken soup (64L!!!!) that will directly support our clients currently experiencing homelessness. Thank you to TC Energy for partaking in this Soup Sisters event and supporting Alpha House with your mad vegetable-chopping and broth-stirring skills!

A very common question we receive almost daily is about panhandling - what do I do? should I give this? should I give that? do I stop and say something? Well, we put together some best practices to help answer your questions. This is PART 4 in our Engaging Vulnerable Persons series. Check it out here: https://lnkd.in/gaxgqVd8 Disclaimer: Alpha House recognizes the dangers posed for individuals panhandling at intersections due to the presence of fast moving vehicles. We urge extreme caution whenever driving or interacting in these situations for the safety of everyone involved. Homeless Cars aims to help Albertans one vehicle at a time - Cochrane News (cochraneeagle.ca) All proceeds from donated vehicles in Cochrane will be dedicated to the Alpha House Society and the Calgary Food Bank. “Alpha House provides outreach services, addiction services, as well as some rehab and shelter services, whereas the Calgary Food Bank is more on the food security side of things, providing food hampers to families, and tackling important points with the provincial government relating to food costs and doing advocacy in the community,” Speziali said.

Behind every statistic is a story—of resilience, courage, and hope. Our client, Chris, spent three years living on the streets in Calgary, and now lives in community supported housing. Your support for our Give Hope Through Housing campaign helps people like Chris rewrite their stories and build brighter futures. Open the Door. "During warmer months, The Confluence team calls Alpha House almost daily about unhoused people camping on the property, vulnerable individuals in need of support, and needle debris found on the site. The pilot project will embed Alpha House staff on The Confluence team so fewer overall resources will be required to manage situations as they arise."
