After almost 4 amazing years, I am stepping down from my full-time role at Anti-Heroine Media to pursue other passions. In 2020, I co-founded this communications consultancy with Hayley with no prior experience in business, and today I am so proud of the the impactful projects we’ve delivered and all the relationships we’ve built. Throughout this time, I’ve had the privilege of supporting outstanding organizations like Global Affairs Canada | Affaires mondiales Canada, Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, Oxfam Canada, Canadian Federation of Students, World YWCA, UN Global Compact Network Canada, Women's Shelters Canada, Informed Opinions, The Enchanté Network / Le réseau Enchanté, International Development Research Centre (IDRC) and the Donor Centre for Enterprise Development. Together, we’ve communicated impact, expanded accessibility, and told powerful stories that have influenced policy and sparked critical discussions. From developing and coordinating campaigns, creating communications strategies, and producing podcasts to designing e-learning programs, facilitating workshops, and more—I’ve been deeply inspired by the people and causes that drive this sector. Although I am no longer in a full-time capacity, I am thrilled to continue contributing to special projects with the talented team at Anti-Heroine Media. Their creativity and drive continue to be a source of inspiration and I’m excited to see where the studio will go. Looking ahead, I’m exploring new opportunities in the tech industry, where I’m eager to bring my background in equity, communications, strategy, research, learning and evaluation, campaigning, storytelling, and building partnerships to create meaningful impact. If you know of any roles or opportunities that might be a fit, I’d love to connect: [email protected]. Thank you to everyone who has been part of this incredible journey, especially Hayley, who has been with me since the start. Her support, friendship, and partnership have made this experience very special. Here’s to new adventures and continued growth! #OpenToWork

At Anti-Heroine Media, we're firm believers in the power of storytelling for social change. That’s why we've teamed up with Balance the Power as Communications Leads, advocating for intersectional feminist leadership that truly meets the needs of everyday people. 📅 Save the Date: February 28, 12pm EST! We're hosting an Instagram Live Event with Fora: Network for Change, diving into the critical issue of the rising cost of living in Canada. Why is this crucial? Young people, especially women, BIPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, are disproportionately affected. They must be at the forefront of increasing diversity and representation in politics. We're thrilled to have Kassandra Neranjan, Gender Justice Advocate and author of Fora's latest report on a young feminist economy, joining us! Kassandra will share insights into the challenges faced by young people and guide us on addressing these issues to #BalanceThePower together. Follow Balance the Power (https://lnkd.in/grgsHJHx) and Fora (instagram.com/fora.nfc) on Instagram for updates!

Fact: Young people are disproportionately impacted by rising costs of living. That’s just one of the many reasons why they – including women, BIPOC, and 2SLGBTQIA+ folks - must be a central part of increasing diversity and representation in politics. How might fostering a young feminist economy help to #BalanceThePower? Let’s dig into it! Join us on February 28 at noon EST for an insightful Instagram Live discussion featuring Kassandra Neranjan, the author of Fora: Network for Change's latest report which aims to fill information gaps in existing economic recovery discourse by centring young leaders. Anti-Heroine Media is joining 70 feminist organizations in opposing Alberta Premier Danielle Smith's reckless proposed restrictions on the rights, freedoms, and medical care of trans youth. Feminism and trans liberation are deeply interconnected—supporting trans rights is crucial to ending gender inequality and discrimination. Amid a global backlash against gender justice, we need policymakers to strengthen protections for trans youth and trans communities, not erode them. Read the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy's latest report, exploring the intricate web between anti-feminist strategies, authoritarianism, and democratic decline. Designing this was a labour of love, shedding light on critical issues shaping our world. #FeministDesign #DigitalAccessbility

📢 New Publication Alert! 📚🌟🔗 Check out our latest policy report “Strongmen and Violence: Interlinkages of Anti-Feminism and Anti-Democratic Developments” which is online now! 🌐 The policy report gives an overview of the role and functions of anti-feminist strategies and policies and their connection to the rise of authoritarianism and democratic decline, explores examples of civil society’s resistance to these developments, and provides key recommendations to countries committed to a Feminist Foreign Policy (FFP) on effective ways to engage with and support civil society to advance feminist policies and strengthen democratic values and structures. 🔍With 72 per cent of the global population living in autocracies (V-Dem, 2023), better understanding the role of anti-feminist policies and strategies within authoritarian regimes and countries experiencing a decline in democracy is necessary both to advance the goal of more peaceful and just societies as well as to strengthen democratic structures and values at the national, supranational/EU and the international levels. The policy report results from a one-year-long project, supported by the German Federal Foreign Office, and builds on various conversations with a broad range of women and LGBTQI* activists who protect and advance human rights, especially women’s and LGBTQI* rights. We are extremely grateful to all the activists, researchers, and scholars who have contributed to this report with their expertise, solidarity and empathy – in particular, as we know about the challenges that women’s rights and LGBTQI* activists face daily. Anti-feminism is already rendering so many people and communities insecure. We remain united in the goal of advancing feminist values to shape more peaceful and just societies. There is no peace without feminism.👉 Link in comments!

As we step into 2024, we reflect with immense pride on the transformations we’ve made as a studio, in addition to the array of creative and impactful storytelling projects we've had the privilege to contribute to. Here's a snapshot of some of our client work from the past year: 🔵 Wrapping up a huge project in collaboration with the World YWCA (stay tuned!). 🔵 Facilitating a workshop on crafting compelling stories to inspire action at the Canadian Race Relations Foundation's Anti-Racist Youth Lab. 🔵 Spearheading a candid conversation on the transformative power of digital media for social change as panellists at the University of Ottawa's 15th International Development Week conference. 🔵 Collaborating with Kimiya Project Lab to develop highly engaging data visualizations for the City of Ottawa. 🔵 Designing an interactive e-learning program and report for the Centre for Feminist Foreign Policy, helping policymakers and government officials meaningfully incorporate the perspectives of LGBTQI+ groups and individuals into their work. 🔵 Leading the communications for Informed Opinions' new campaign, "Balance the Power" (save the date for Jan 24!). We were also fortunate to be mentored, offer our mentorship to others, and be part of a supportive community: 🔵 Being selected to receive consulting services from the University of Toronto - Rotman School of Management School of Management's Intensive Social Entrepreneurship Course, under the guidance of the exceptional Professor Laura Doering. 🔵 Participating in the #CNOY event with St. Felix Centre to raise awareness and fundraise for unhoused folks in Toronto. 🔵 Gaining insights into ethical business structure and strategy through the Flourishing Enterprise Co-lab Train the Trainer program, mentored by the inspiring Dilek and Rudy. 🔵 Mentoring others through innovative start-ups: Hayley mentored underrepresented youth as part of the Business in the Streets YCEO program, while Ashna mentored BIPOC women in business and STEM as part of Accelerate Her Future’s Virtual Accelerator Program. Last but not least, we are so fortunate to work with the brilliant Tehreem, who strategized and led our digital media throughout the fall. An immense thank you to all our friends and collaborators! We're very excited for everything that 2024 will bring. ✨ #YearInReview #WomenInBusiness #DesignAgency
