Avro announces the successful test by the University of Calgary aerocore research team of the AVRO Aerospace RamForce Engine on July 29, 2024 at Rothney Astrophysical Observatory. This novel engine uses no moving parts to travel from zero to supersonic and ultimately hypersonic speeds. The historic tests are being conducted to help inform the fabrication of the Generation 3 Avro RamForce Engine being demonstrated to the world later this year. The new Canadian engine is a monumental step towards reducing the cost of access to space and will also be used in future high speed autonomous aerial vehicles. #Ucalgary #avro #alberta #spacecanada #csa #innovation #aerospace

It was a pleasure to have Mayor Sandra Masters join us at the grand opening of the Avro Venture Studio. We look forward to building collaboration with regional investors, government, industry, and academia to drive innovation and foster economic diversity. This marks the first phase of the project locally and is a critical step towards reaching space for Canada.

AVRO Aerospace Builds Revolutionary Ram Jet Engine Capable of Generating Thrust at Zero Speeds In a groundbreaking announcement, Avro Aerospace (a division of Atlantis Research Labs Inc. ) and the University of Calgary recently unveiled a revolutionary ram jet engine capable of generating thrust at zero speeds, overcoming a major limitation of traditional jet propulsion. This historic breakthrough marks a significant milestone in aviation technology and promises to reshape the future of flight. The innovative engine, which has been in development for over a decade, addresses the long-standing challenge of ram jets requiring initial velocity to operate. Traditionally, ramjet engines, which are known for their high-speed efficiency, could only function effectively once the aircraft was already in motion. The new engine, however, has been ingeniously engineered to generate thrust from a standstill, allowing for unprecedented versatility and performance. Like other ramjets, the Avro ramjet has no moving parts, The collaboration between, AVRO Aerospace and the University of Calgary has been instrumental in bringing this project to fruition. The world will get its first look at this historic engine during a live demonstration scheduled this fall in Canada. The event is anticipated to draw significant attention from the global aerospace community, showcasing the engine’s capabilities and potential applications. The successful development of this new jet engine not only revolutionizes aviation but also opens doors to advancements in space exploration and defense.r #canada #spacecanada #csa #space #avro #myuCalgary #innovation #nserc
