We are thrilled to introduce Svenja Telle as a member of our technical committee! Svenja Telle is the #DirectorOfProjectOrigination at Base Carbon, where she spearheads initiatives to bridge capital markets with cutting-edge #ClimateTechnologies and nature-based solutions. With extensive expertise in #CarbonRemoval, #ClimateFinance, and sustainable development, Svenja is dedicated to advancing transparent and equitable #CarbonProjects. Her work spans the development and execution of carbon contracts, leveraging #MachineLearning for data traceability, and engaging with communities to ensure fair practices in project implementation. Svenja serves on the #TechnicalCommittee for #OmanClimateWeek2025, contributing her deep knowledge of #CarbonCapture, utilization, and storage (#CCUS) to drive impactful #ClimateAction in the MENA region. In addition to her role at Base Carbon, she is a member of the Industrial Advisory Board for the National Renewable Energy Laboratory's Biomass Carbon Removal and Storage initiative, focusing on the intersection of technology and finance to scale #GlobalDecarbonization efforts. With a #PhD in Natural Resources and Information Technology from the University of Vermont and an Advanced Certificate in #DataAnalytics from the University of California, Berkeley, Svenja combines her academic background with practical experience to push the boundaries of climate technology and sustainability.

I'm honored to be a member of the Technical committee for the upcoming Oman Climate Week to be held in February 2025. Oman is a pearl in the #MENA region and very dear to my heart. Base Carbon Reports Second-Quarter 2024 Operating and Financial Results This morning, Base Carbon announced its second-quarter 2024 consolidated financial results and operational highlights which included: 📈 Continued generation and sale of carbon credits from the Company’s projects: - Received payments of approximately $12.5 million during the quarter from carbon credit sales pursuant to the Vietnam project offtake arrangement. - Subsequent to quarter-end, received a further payment of approximately $11.2 million from the sale of carbon credits generated from its Vietnam and Rwanda projects. 🇷🇼 First issuance of 717,558 correspondingly adjusted #carboncredits from the Rwanda cookstoves project achieved with each carbon credit labeled with Verra’s “Article 6 Authorized” and representing a carrying value of $9.3 million. 🇮🇳 Continued operational success in India ARR project with over 82% of the planned 6.5 million trees planted to date with full planting continued to be expected within 2024. 🗓️ As of June 30, 2024, the Company had total assets of $127.2 million, including $7.5 million in cash and cash equivalents, and $108.8 million in investments in carbon credit projects. Base Carbon Announces Receipt of US$11.2 Million From Sale of Carbon Credits Today, we are pleased to announce that Base Carbon has received proceeds of approximately $11.2 million from sales of #carboncredits from its Vietnam household device and Rwanda cookstove projects. Highlights of today's news include: - The receipt of approximately $11.2 million from the sale of carbon credits generated from our Vietnam and Rwanda projects. - The Company has received total payments to date of approximately $30.0 million from our Vietnam project, with full payback and initial capital return within approximately 2 years of initial capital commitment to the project. - Base Carbon maintains inventory of approximately 700,000 #Article6 labeled carbon credits generated from our Rwanda project which we believe will be eligible for inclusion and delivery into programs like #CORSIA, the international aviation industry framework to reduce #carbonemissions. Will 2024 be a memorable summer or is it the new norm? July 22, 2024, was the hottest day on record, according to a NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration analysis of global daily temperature data. July 21 and 23 of this year also exceeded the previous daily record, set in July 2023. I wonder if we will see these headlines every summer from now on, with more extreme weather, temperatures, droughts, and wildfires! When I was 18 (almost 20 years ago), I made the decision to dedicate my life to climate change. Back then, it was fringe, idealistic, and almost romanticized. A career in planting trees! Little did I know that I would be working at the intersection of novel technology development and financial market mechanisms two decades later. With all the efforts made on the nature-based side (I'm part of this effort too), we still need to accelerate change towards technology-based carbon removal and scalable industrial decarbonization faster. I won't state facts or numbers, we all know they look grim (from IPCC to ongoing deforestation to species loss). Instead, I want to give a snippet of my last week, when I was honored to contribute as a faculty member to the Research Experience in Carbon Sequestration (CCUS-CCS), sponsored by the U.S. Department of Energy, Office of Fossil Energy & Carbon Management (FECM) for the second time. Working in carbon markets, I try to think outside of the box. So you can see me with the legends Richard A. Esposito and Pamela Tomski on a geological site characterization visit... because sequestering carbon under the ground isn't easy! I think the more we understand, the better projects we can build by connecting dots from engineering, geology, field services, technology development, and financial mechanisms such as carbon markets. The second picture shows me escaping the heat of Wyoming, up in the mountains, where we actually found snow.. I thought about how many more years we will be able to see this in summer, given the temperatures. And the last picture is a number that gives me hope—looking at IP and patent development in #DAC. In all fairness, I'm very skeptical about many of them, but we have a new tool in the toolbox that can be applied in #CCS #CCU and #CCUS if done correctly. Alexia Kelly just posted a few days ago that she was at a conference in Houston where she only knew one person. I intentionally seek those crowds because we don't have enough time to keep speaking in echo chambers. A quote that really struck me last week when spending time with engineers, reservoir modelers, geologists, EPC firms, and other scientists was: "We can build the best technologies we want, if we can't finance them, they will end up on the shelf." This tells us, at its core, why we need to think holistically, push ourselves to work across industries, and get out of our comfort zones. After an incredible month in LATAM with many project site visits, countless lessons I could never learn from any PDD or spreadsheet, and getting into the nitty-gritty details of project design, my heart is full. Of course, I could post a picture from one of my panels at the beautiful IETA LATAM Climate Summit in Cartagena or the iREC Conference in Sao Paolo. But how do I share the essence of my work? It's not the stage, or the conference room. Working in origination - it's the field, it's the forest, it's the grasslands. With all the news emerging about flawed projects, double issuance, poor methodologies, and audits, these visits have become increasingly important for investors such as Base Carbon. I have so much respect for those making it happen on the ground and feel humbled to have been welcomed across existing and emerging projects in Brazil and Colombia. And I'm grateful to build bridges of understanding between the investment and project communities through deep understanding. I can't share too many details yet but hopefully soon!
