Dhruvin Parikh, an instructor at York University – School of Continuing Studies, talks about Staking on Ethereum. It lets you contribute to network security by locking up your token for a certain period to earn rewards over the lockup period. Liquid staking lets you retain liquidity while your token is locked up. When you stake your token, you receive a derivative of the same amount of the token staked, which you can use for other activities, like trading, lending, participating in governance activities, and restaking. You will continue to receive rewards on your primarily staked token. Canadian Blockchain Consortium response to AML/ATF Consultation https://lnkd.in/gEZiU8vx The Consortium has submitted a formal intervention response to the Government of Canada’s consultation on strengthening Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Anti-Terrorist Financing (ATF) regulations. This marks the seventh industry response prepared by our Policy & Advocacy Committee (PAC) to regulators. Key points include: Statutory Reform Recommendations: We advocate for updates to Canadian laws, including the Bankruptcy and Insolvency Act and the Criminal Code, to protect victims of financial and white-collar crimes, especially in the crypto-asset industry. Coordination of Criminal and Civil Systems: The current separation between these systems weakens the policing of financial crimes and limits asset recovery for victims. Crypto-Asset Insolvencies: Cases like Quadriga and Voyager highlight the need for better tools and collaboration to protect victims. Victim-Centric Approach: We urge statutory changes that prioritize victim protection and enhance prosecution effectiveness. Role of CFCA: We support creating a centralized agency to improve coordination between police, regulators, and the judiciary. The Consortium is committed to engaging in thoughtful dialogue to protect Canadians and strengthen our financial systems.
