Happy to support the Counselwell Summit. We always enjoy it! And we respect that Avi Weiss is grateful not to hold the event in a baseball field. As sports fans, we did pause for a minute and think that could be fun! #ceolaw #counselwell #legalfun
Their support goes beyond simply sponsorship dollars. They are rooting for Counselwell to do well, and it's an honour to have their support. Here's to all the sponsors of our upcoming Summit, many of whom supported us last year as well: LawyersInHouse.com MinuteBox LawVu BJRC Recruiting SpotDraft Spellbook Cassels Brock & Blackwell LLP Gatekeeper Fasken CEO Law GC AI DiliTrust Alexa Translations Streamline AI LexisNexis Without you, I'd be running the Summit in a baseball field with hot dogs for lunch. Thank you!

Remember when our founder Steve Monk LLB MBA PEng shared the post below? It was a great read and now is a perfect time for a reread and maybe to share! Have a wonderful long weekend. Be safe. Be kind. Be care full and carefree! #carefree #care_full #longweekend #summer #wisdom
Carefree or Care Full I’ve been having a carefree summer. Travelling around Ontario. Going to live music. Swimming in lakes. Eating ice cream. The latest carefree weekend involved a trip to Hamilton for a free music festival featuring the Village People and 20 other bands. There’s a video attached. Screaming out YMCA, after learning the Village People approved arm gestures, is definitely a carefree summer night! But I wouldn’t say Hamilton is a carefree town. We saw too many people struggling with mental health issues, addiction, homelessness. And this week at work, like most weeks, I spoke with people who are facing challenges. Sometimes they’re manageable – an injury on a trip to a foreign country, a serious sports accident, a sudden illness, a job loss – manageable, but still filled with anxiousness and stress. Sometimes they’re huge – like struggling with cancer. It makes me realize how being carefree is such a blessing. It also makes me realize that being carefree is temporary - that things have a way of changing. Sometimes it happens in the blink of an eye – like the diagnosis from a doctor that you have a terminal disease, or the unexpected death of someone close. Sometimes it comes slowly, like the gradual spiral into deepening depression. And this realization makes me careful. I remind myself that life has challenges – and the only guarantee is that struggles will come. The only question is when. It also feeds my belief we all need to be care full. Show some care for people in need. Because people around all of us are struggling – and, at some point, we will too. I’m guessing someone around you is struggling right now. Maybe you can help them. By realizing they’re struggling. By listening. By being there. If your own life is carefree, being there for them is a good way to add some care. #Carefree #Careful #Care_Full

A little more on fractional legal support. Fractional lawyers are particularly beneficial for startups, small businesses, and companies experiencing rapid growth. Working with a fractional lawyer allows businesses to scale their legal resources according to needs and budget constraints. Fractional lawyers often bring diverse skills. This model reduces legal costs and ensures that businesses have access to seasoned legal professionals. #fractionallaw #ceolaw #legalhelp

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) remain vital in Canadian workplaces. Understanding the legal landscape is important. However, embracing DEI is not just about compliance. True supporters of DEI foster a workplace culture that makes everyone feel included and valued. There is talk lately about DEI being about checking some boxes and doing the bare minimum. As with most things, there will be some companies just checking the boxes and there will be others that are passionate about it - because diversity brings different perspectives and experiences and that is vital to business. Does your company value diversity or just check the boxes? It’s never too late to do a gut check and change things if you don’t like what you discover. #InclusionInCanada #HumanRightsLaw #ceolaw
