We are incredibly honoured as the recipients of CRH Canada’s Gold OH&S Excellence Award for the revamp of our Traffic Control Training Program! Our teams are committed to maintaining safety at our work sites and zones, so they eagerly embraced the opportunity to enhance our Traffic Control Training Program when Book 7 of the Ontario Traffic Manual was updated by Ontario’s Ministry of Transportation. The improvements to our Traffic Control Program enabled a new Crash Truck mentorship to develop, which aimed to provide our teams working on major roads with the training and tools they would need to feel secure and competent to perform their roles safely. At Dufferin Construction, the safety of our people and others near our work zones will always be our priority. This award is a true testament of the commitment of our people. We are proud to present the 2023 I&D Excellence award to the teams behind a very special initiative that was introduced last year through a kick-off event hosted by our businesses in Ontario, the Women in Trades program! The employee-led program was launched in Spring of 2023 at an open-house event held at Dufferin Aggregates’ Milton Quarry. More than 70 young women from the York Catholic District School Board (YCDSB) were welcomed by teams from our Dufferin Concrete, Ontario Redimix, Dufferin Aggregates, Dufferin Construction Company and Ash Grove Cement businesses in Ontario as well as members from our Women’s Employee Resource Group, who showed the students the many advantages of choosing a career in the trades. Now, over a year later, the Women in Trades Group has attended multiple events hosted by the schoolboard, continuing their mission of bringing visibility to the various educational and career opportunities available within the trade industries to the next generation of women entering the workforce. We are proud to be recognized alongside Dufferin Concrete as the winners of CRH Canada’s Gold Innovative & Sustainable Business Solutions Excellence Award for our collaboration on another successful project at the Toronto Pearson Intl Airport in 2023! While working on a project at the airport last year, our crews, in collaboration with the teams at Dufferin Concrete came together to provide several sustainable concrete solutions in order to meet the customer’s carbon reduction targets for the project. Thanks to the dedication of both teams, we successfully implemented these initiatives resulting in a significant decrease in CO2 emissions. We are pleased to congratulate the winners of the People Development Excellence Award for their successful revival of the ‘Building Future Leaders’ program. In 2023, the project team revived a former employee development program following a hiatus since 2013. The revamped program introduced new ways for participants to network, collaborate with colleagues from different parts of our businesses, and interact with our leadership team; and in May of 2023, we welcomed the next batch of high potential employees to learn what it takes to be the future leaders at CRH Canada. We are extremely proud of the employees who have graduated from the BFL program both past and present. We are pleased to be recognized alongside the teams at Dufferin Aggregates, Demix Agrégats & Ash Grove Cement as the recipients of the OneCRH Excellence Award for our collaboration on the MessageDesk Call Center Integration project! Last year, call centre teams across our businesses came together to implement a new, revolutionized live chat tool that has brought us even closer to our customers. Our teams are now available by text and live chat through our websites. This innovation reduces wait times and allows us to respond to customer inquiries at an even faster rate, making it easy to do business with us. Ash Grove Canada’s Mississauga Cement Plant is the winner of the silver Innovative & Sustainable Business Solutions Award for their efforts to transition kiln fuels from coal to natural gas. By reducing the consumption of coal and switching to natural gas, the plant has seen significantly reduced emissions of CO2 by an estimated 50,000 tonnes, compared to 2022 levels. This initiative is part of Ash Grove’s comprehensive plan to reduce overall emissions and to innovate for a low-carbon future. #CRHCanadaExcellenceAwards2023

It was an honor to be recognized at this year’s CRH Canada Excellence Awards ceremony as the recipient of the Bronze Innovative & Sustainable Business Solutions Award for our Zero Waste Concrete Solutions project.   Our teams are dedicated to finding sustainable solutions that not only reduce our carbon footprint but also reduce the amount of waste product that comes back to our plants. By working to bring circularity to our operations, we have significantly reduced the amount of waste concrete by repurposing the materials to produce a high-quality sustainable product that our customers can be proud to use in their construction projects.   Congrats to the project team on their achievement! #DufferinProud #CRHCanadaExcellenceAwards2023
