Patrick founded Patrick Hunter Art & Design in 2014. His journey began with selling original paintings online and expanded to include prints, blankets, glassware, and apparel featuring his distinctive artwork, which has garnered a global following. Patrick envisions art as a catalyst for societal change, aiming to empower future generations by fostering cultural representation in mainstream contexts. His collaborations with notable entities such as the Olympics, Rogers Media, and the Chicago Blackhawks underscore his commitment to this mission. Beyond corporate partnerships, Patrick dedicates himself to raising awareness of Ojibwe culture and nurturing creative confidence through paint workshops across North America. Balancing his time between Toronto, Sault Ste. Marie, and Red Lake, Patrick finds inspiration in family connections and the natural landscapes of his ancestral home. The Artist Ambassador program connects Indigenous and non-Indigenous creators, Knowledge Keepers, and experts with DWF’s audiences through a variety of engagements and activations. The Downie Wenjack Fund aims to create a path towards reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous people.
About us
Inspired by Chanie’s story and Gord’s call to build a better Canada, the Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund (DWF) aims to build cultural understanding and create a path towards reconciliation between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples. DWF’s work centres around improving the lives of Indigenous people by building awareness, education, and connections between all Canadians. The Fund is an Indigenous-led organization with a core team of individuals who are committed to moving our mission forward. We are located on the traditional territory of many nations including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishnabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples and is now home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit and Métis peoples. We acknowledge that the area is covered by Treaty 13 signed with the Mississaugas of the Credit.

Yesterday we welcomed The Gord Downie & Chanie Wenjack Fund to Joe Fresh HQ for an educational session about the history and ongoing impact of the residential school system, the importance of the relationship between Indigenous and non-Indigenous peoples, and DWF’s work to move reconciliation forward. The Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund is a longtime partner of Loblaw and the charitable partner for our National Day for Truth and Reconciliation collaboration with Born in the North. 100% of proceeds from this collection will donated to DWF’s vital work. Thank you to Dorothy Peters as well as DWF’s Director of Marketing and Communications, Amanda Charles and Director of Development; Angela Reid.
