About us
Founded in 2001, Equal Voice is a multi-partisan organization dedicated to electing and supporting women at all levels of political office. Our vision is gender parity in politics. Equal Voice Strategic Goals 2020-2024: 1. Equipping women to succeed in politics through our national campaign school program, online toolkits, our biennial Daughters of the Vote program, as well as networking, skills-building and mentorship opportunities. 2. Retaining women in politics by advocating for inclusive and gender-balanced legislatures, campaigning for safe working conditions for women politicians, and working with political parties to increase women's participation. 3. Advocating for representation by providing information and analysis on gender representation, working with community organizations, holding national, regional and local events, and working to combat harassment and abuse of women politicians. 4. Building organizational capacity through investing in our chapters and communities.

Canada's performance again dropped in the Global Gender Gap Report rankings. At 36th place globally, we are behind Iceland (1), Australia (24), Mexico (33), etc. The good news: Canada's ranking in the Political Empowerment sub-index improved from 30th in 2023 to 27th. Subscribe to our newsletter (https://lnkd.in/g9KDCHVU) to keep up to date on EV activities and opportunities to get involved. #GlobalGenderGap #RepresentationMatters #EqualityForAll #EqualVoice

Today, we celebrate our freedoms, rights, and responsibilities as Canadian citizens. In addition to honoring our shared history, which began with Indigenous Peoples, and the values that define us, we recognize the achievements of Canadian women in politics whose leadership has shaped our country's past, present, and future. We must remain vigilant. This year, Canada slipped from 61st to 65th in global gender parity rankings, reminding us of the ongoing work needed to achieve true equality. #CanadaDay #RepresentationMatters #EqualVoice #Avoixegales

Our final profile for #NIHM2024 celebrating the powerful political voices of Indigenous women is former senator Nellie Cournoyea. Born in Aklavik, NWT, Cournoyea is of Inupiaq and Norwegian descent. Her experience within the Indian Residential School System were described in the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's report, including how she was sheltered by Indigenous families after running away after a confrontation with a teacher. #IndigenousRights #RepresentationMatters #EqualVoice

🎉 Congratulations to our very own Brittney Senger on her nomination as the NDP candidate for Saskatoon Southeast! Brittney has been a dedicated and committed champion for women’s political leadership in her work with Equal Voice. We are incredibly proud and excited for her as she prepares to put her name on the ballot for the upcoming fall election in Saskatchewan. #SaskatoonSoutheast #EqualVoice #RepresentationMatter @brittney-s-715566141

Women’s leadership has always been part of the identity of the Indigenous people of Canada. Equal Voice is grateful for the opportunity to help amplify the voices of Indigenous women. Voices like that of Oneida Nation of the Thames CEO and EV board member, Sherry L. Monastyrski who is featured in this video. #RepresentationMatters #EqualVoice #NIHM2024
