This is my most recent law blog. This blog reviews the decision of the Supreme Court of the United States in City of Grants Pass, Oregon v. Johnson, in which the court was required to determine whether a by-law restricting encamping in public parks was unconstitutional under the Cruel and Unusual Punishments Clause of the US Constitution. The USSC found in favour of the City. This is an interesting case because in Canada courts have also grappled with the issue of the rights of campers to establish encampments on university land and public lands. #law #legaleducation #encampments #constitutionalrights #EighthAmendment
