Leading with Accountability… Accountability is the bedrock upon which high-performing teams and successful organizations are built. Leaders who embrace accountability as a core value create a culture of trust, empowerment, and shared responsibility, where individuals and teams are inspired to reach their full potential. Accountability in leadership is about taking ownership of one's actions, decisions, and outcomes. It involves setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and holding oneself and others accountable for results. But it goes beyond simply assigning blame or taking credit; it is about fostering a growth mindset, learning from mistakes, and continuously improving. Leaders who exemplify accountability inspire their teams to do the same. When leaders take ownership of their shortcomings and model the behaviour they expect from others, it creates a ripple effect throughout the organization. Accountability in leadership is not just about individual responsibility; it is about creating a culture where everyone feels accountable for the collective success of the team or organization. This involves establishing clear goals, defining roles and responsibilities, and providing the necessary resources and support for individuals to succeed. When accountability is embedded in an organization's fabric, it fosters a sense of ownership and shared purpose. Employees feel valued and invested in the outcomes of their work, leading to increased engagement, productivity, and innovation. Conversely, a lack of accountability can lead to disengagement, resentment, and, ultimately, organizational failure. Leaders who embrace accountability create a virtuous cycle of success. By setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and holding themselves and others accountable, they empower their teams to achieve their goals and drive organizational success. This, in turn, reinforces the importance of accountability and strengthens the culture of ownership within the organization. In today's ever-changing landscape, accountability in leadership is crucial. Leaders prioritising accountability are better prepared to tackle unforeseen challenges, motivate their teams, and achieve lasting success. By fostering a culture of accountability, leaders can tap into the full potential of their teams and organizations, creating a path towards a brighter future. If a picture is worth a thousand words, these two are worth millions … #leadership #servantleadership #teambuilding #chewthesamedirt #strugglewell

If a picture is worth a thousand words, these two are worth millions … These photos are two of hundreds taken over the past couple of years during Gasparotto Group's Outside the Wire events.  Of them all, these two resonate with me as they best exemplify leadership and team-building. Photo 1: “The Sunrise Team Huddle”: This group had just endured a very long night. They began their day at 0100 and, over a few hours, traversed several kilometres of rough, wet, greasy terrain while under pressure to solve problems, navigate, and collaborate with other teams. During this time, it poured rain, and the temperature dropped below freezing. At this point, they were about halfway through the challenge exercise we had imposed on them. Photo 2: “I Got You”:  During the afore-mentioned challenge exercise, Teams must build a bridge to span a gap and cross their Team members and equipment. The timing for this is roughly about ¾’s of the way through the challenge exercise; people are beginning to get tired, and the competitive environment and conditions are imposing pressure. Individuals and teams alike are beginning to feel the strain of the activity… people’s true nature is starting to appear as fatigue and stress pull back any facade they may have been able to maintain. What do these two images say to you about teamwork and leadership?  https://gasparotto.co/ https://lnkd.in/gQ-amWGm https://lnkd.in/g8KZrjaX https://lnkd.in/g8KZrjaX Photo credits: Michael Wong at mcwphotography

This is an excellent post by Simon Jeffries: https://lnkd.in/gcfiKf-K It’s probably something all leaders are guilty of doing - neglecting? - at some point in their leadership journey. Let's build on the concept of self-care for leaders…. An HBR article “Serious” Leaders Need Self-Care, Too (Neale, 2022) provides some key insights on the subject: Leaders often resist self-care due to misperceptions about good leadership and how self-care works. Self-care needs to be reframed as an investment in productivity and effectiveness.    . Research unequivocally demonstrates the benefits of self-care practices such as a healthy diet, exercise, good sleep, and emotional regulation. These practices promote health and well-being, better moods, higher energy levels, improved cognitive function, and increased focus and creativity.  Many leaders claim they don't have time for self-care. Again, the research shows that taking breaks to prioritise health and well-being can prevent decision fatigue, renew motivation, increase productivity and creativity, and improve learning and memory. Self-care is a sign of weakness, and good leaders should never show vulnerability. However, embracing both self-care and vulnerability makes leaders more effective by allowing them to rely on others, build trust, delegate tasks and recharge their batteries. To integrate self-care—to make it a priority and habit—leaders can make peace with it by acknowledging their resistance to it, personalizing practices to suit their preferences, incorporating micro self-care activities into their routine, and setting an example for others to follow. Self-care is not just a personal indulgence for leaders but a strategic investment in their effectiveness. By reframing self-care as a tool for enhancing productivity, creativity, and decision-making, leaders can overcome the misconception that it is a sign of weakness. Embracing self-care practices, even in small increments, can improve well-being, stronger relationships, and, ultimately, more impactful leadership. It's crucial for leaders to prioritize their own health and set an example for their teams to follow. #wellbeing #selfcare #performance #leadership

Ex-Special Forces | Coach To Founders & CEOs | Master Your Mindset To Go From ‘Average’ To Unstoppable

Guilty of ‘people pleasing’? Try this test… Look back at the things you did last week and ask yourself... How many did I NEED to do? How many of those did I WANT to do? How many were for other people where I 'FELT' I should? Wanting to please others is natural. But saying ‘Yes’ has consequences. Every yes means a no somewhere else. If you are saying yes outside of 'need' or 'want' YOU will pay the price... Your workouts get cancelled. Your downtime gets eaten into. Your life takes a back seat. The result? Stressed, overwhelmed and dissatisfied. You know that, but it can still be hard to say no. And we tell ourselves all kinds of stories to justify it. To combat this start with three steps: FIRST – Don't answer right away. Delay. Give yourself some time ('I need to check my calendar.'). SECOND – Ask yourself: Why am I saying yes to this? What will I be giving up? THIRD – Practice saying no. The more you do this the more confident you will be in setting boundaries. If you don't prioritise your time, someone else will. #thenaturaledge #training #growth #development

The growth mindset—the belief that abilities and intelligence can be developed—is key to unlocking personal and organizational resilience. Individuals and organizations that embrace challenges, learn from failures, and prioritize continuous learning foster a resilient workforce able to adapt and innovate. Leadership plays a crucial role in promoting a growth mindset culture within organizations, which in turn, builds the individual and collective resilience needed to thrive in an unpredictable world. #growthmindset #organizationalresilience #adaptability #innovation #leadership #leaderdevelopment #strugglewell #dohardthings
