It’s never a good morning to walk into work and be told "there's a puddle of water under the fridge." It was just one of those little surprises we sometimes face at Hill House Hospice! Last week, our trusty refrigerator, which has been with us for over 10 years, needed a new circuit board and fan. ☹ At Hill House Hospice, keeping up with home maintenance and repairs is crucial so we can give the best care to our residents as they navigate through their end-of-life journey. Hill House operates 24/7, offering care at no cost. We rely on supporters like you so we can keep things running smoothly, cover essential day-to-day needs like groceries and tackle surprises like this broken fridge. If you haven’t had a chance to donate this year, we’d be so grateful for any financial support you can give. You’ll fund our highest priority needs and help us when unexpected circumstances arise. Thank you! Link to donate: https://lnkd.in/gHus4yYH #hillhousehospice

In its most basic form, holistic therapy addresses the mind, body, and spirit to support health and healing. It often includes complementary therapies such as aromatherapy, reflexology, Reiki and therapeutic touch. Linda Prussick, a certified aromatherapist and certified reflexologist who provides these valuable services to our residents at Hill House Hospice explains, “Touch is one of the most basic ways of communicating and connecting with another being.” Linda says, “I try to incorporate breathwork & visualization, and humour into appropriate sessions. My goal is to provide comfort and relaxation, relieve anxiety and stress and to calm the mind and the body of the residents at Hill House at a time when they need it most.“ On Holistic Therapy Day, we appreciate the benefits of the complementary therapies that Linda brings to Hill House and to our residents and families. 🙏 💖 #holistictherapy #hillhousehospice

Music and conversations were a great combination for Hill House Hospice at the Songs of the Hill Music Festival hosted by RH Ward 5 Councillor Karen Cilevitz. Hill House community ambassadors, Louis and Yoke, talked to festival attendees about end-of-life care provided at Hill House, located at the heart of Richmond Hill. We were pleased to re-connect with Richmond Hill Mayor David West, RH Councillor Scott Thompson, RH Councillor Simon Cui and RH Councillor Michael Shiu. Thank you, Cllr. Cilevitz, for your kind support of Hill House.

Hill House Hospice operates 24/7, every day of the year, ensuring that those in need receive the support and dignity they deserve, regardless of the season. Hill House is only partly funded by the government. Approximately 50% of our remaining operating expenses are covered by the generosity of families who have experienced the care we provide, the generosity of the community we serve, as well as other fundraising activities throughout the year. Our 2024 Annual Campaign runs through the summer, and if you haven't made a gift this year, will you please consider doing so today? Your donation makes it possible for us to keep our doors open so we can offer our expert medical care every day of the year – and these services are provided free of charge to residents and their families. Every gift, no matter the size, makes a significant impact. Thank you! Link to donate: https://lnkd.in/g9G24r9T #hillhousehospice

On Saturday, Hill House joined the Richmond Hill Board of Trade for a pre-Canada Day celebration at their Multicultural & Diversity Festival! Volunteers Mojdeh, Peter and Kathy engaged with many residents including Mayor David West of Richmond Hill, Ontario to talk about end-of-life care at Hill House. Our staff and volunteers collectively speak over 10 different languages. We continually strive to truly understand what end-of-life care means to the wide mosaic of diverse cultures in our community. We also respect and follow any religious or dietary preferences that our residents and families request. Hill House provides these services and care at no cost to residents and their families. #hillhousehospice #multicultural #community #rhbot
