El año que viene Argentina será sede del encuentro anual de Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi) Un evento muy importante relacionado a la salud pública y a la evaluación de tecnologías sanitarias en la región y el mundo del que tengo la suerte de participar, como parte del ETESA IECS, ya que el Instituto de Efectividad Clínica y Sanitaria (IECS) ha sido deleccionado como sede organizadora. Además, es muy motivador para mi integrar el Regional Engagement Committee de este evento que busca difundir las acciones y promover el involucramiento de actores clave de la región. Jaclyn Beca was honoured to be part of the 2024 Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi) Annual Meeting in June aimed at enabling innovation, sustainability and collaboration, with research examining opportunities to improve assumptions around long-term benefits in early-stage cancers. In line with many efforts shared at the conference, it is clear there is much to learn from one another by examining similar issues across HTA agencies. In this research, we found that intermediate time-to-event endpoints have not been a barrier to positive recommendations, and yet there is considerable uncertainty and variability in approaches for projected long-term treatment benefits, with modifications required in two-thirds of the files we reviewed across multiple HTA agencies. While we characterized the range of variability in approaches and justifications from a methods perspective, we also identified opportunities for evidence generation with RWE and reporting that can enhance our approaches to this issue as well as support efficiency in review processes. Improving consistency through consensus on principles and the supporting evidence needed to justify assumptions would facilitate alignment and support decision-making in oncology and similar settings.
