What do you do when your change is really stuck? In the Lean Change Agent workshop we teach participants how to use the Hot Seat exercise to generate options for new directions. The Hot Seat takes the Lean Change Cycle - the Engine of Lean Change - and compresses it into a short workshop. Participants bring their biggest change challenges and vote for the most pressing. Insights are generated to gain context about the challenge. Then the collective intelligence of the group is unleashed to generate various options for change activities and experiments. Each option is evaluated on a cost/benefit matrix and then the selected options move to the change Kanban board for execution. Learn this approach for yourself in our next Lean Change Agent workshop. We have two cohorts kicking off soon: Aug 6: North America, Europe, Middle East, & Africa https://lnkd.in/gmitzzTH Aug 7: North America, Australia, New Zealand https://lnkd.in/gmtPJQT6 Over six weeks and six modules you will collaborate with a group of change professionals from around the world to learn new and moderns ways to facilitate change! #change #changemanagement #leanchange

"Honestly, dude, if you don't like this change that's your choice. I'm not here to convince you. But not aligning to the change is not a choice. Cool?" There doesn't need to be a WIIFM for every employee or for every change. Change management is not going to do the change for you. You won't get a merit badge for participating in the change. You're a professional with a responsibility to yourself, your colleagues, and the organization. Welcome to the mystical world where we treat employees like adults during times of change 😂 If a stakeholder truly understands a change and still just doesn't like it, that's ok. As long as they can support the vision and direction and not undermine it. If everyone truly despises the change and the change agents and leaders don't reflect on whether it's the right change or not....well....that's also a choice (but not a very good one). #change #changemanagement #projectmanagement

The Minimum Viable Change Process (MVCP) is the lightest-weight process appropriate for the context of the change. This is a core learning outcome of our Lean Change Agent workshop. Your MVCP acts as a radar – enabling you to scan the environment ahead so you can navigate forward without getting bogged down in heavy processes and tools. Decide on the frequency with which you will conduct these core elements that make up a MVCP: Insights Meeting: 30-minute meeting to review in-progress experiments, discuss new insights gained since the last meeting, and possibly generate new experiments. Stand-Up: 15-minute meeting to sync up on the work and discuss where you may be stuck. Retrospective: 30 to 60-minute meeting to tune and adjust your change approach and process. Change Canvas Refresh: 30 to 60-minute meeting to refresh the change canvas with new information. Faster rotation of your change radar leads to more frequent updates of the scanned area and increases the range of the covered area. In times of high ambiguity fast rotation is crucial for tracking fast-moving objects and hidden dangers, especially when you’re moving quickly. A slower refresh rate may be appropriate for slow moving changes with a longer time horizon. Dial up the refresh rate when you need to learn more about the change, sooner, or where you have identified a high-risk gap in coverage. Dial it to the max for extremely fast-moving changes or when uncertainty is high. #change #changemanagement #projectmanagement

It's ok to question the validity of change frameworks and models. One of the most shocking aspects of change management is the unquestioning faith that is often put into models and frameworks. We generally assume there must be empirical data and evidence to support their validity, right? The truth may shock you. Go and ask the questions. Seek the answers. Follow the evidence. Then, let us know what you think! #change #changemanagement

Check out this cool Agile clock created by participants in our Lean Change Agent workshop! Module 1 of our workshop (Change Agility) is all about how change practitioners can use Agile thinking to transform the way that they VIEW change work and the way that they DO change work. In order to get into the head of Agilists, one of the exercises we complete is the "Agile clock". The object of this game is for the team to rewrite the 12 Agile principles in three words or less and then place each of the numbered principles on its corresponding position on a clock. The idea behind this game is that if you can rewrite each principle in three words or less, you understand the essence of what each principle means - and it's not about software development! Check out out next Lean Change Agent workshops kicking off in a few weeks and learn how to turn Agile thinking in acting for your change initiatives!
