Some great #selfcare advice.
I'm not a fitness enthusiast, but i'm making a change (and you can too) Victoria Repa nailed it with this one. As someone who's always prioritised productivity over physical activity, l've come to realise that my sedentary lifestyle is taking a toll on my health. But I'm not alone. Many of us spend hours sitting at our desks, unaware of the risks associated with prolonged inactivity. Sitting is slowly but surely becoming the new smoking. I know, it sounds dramatic. But just like smoking, sitting for extended periods can lead to some serious health issues, like heart disease, diabetes, and even some types of cancer. The truth is, our bodies are meant to move. So, what can we do? It's not like we can just stop sitting altogether (although that would be ideal). But we can make small changes. Here are 8 simple tips to help you get started: 1: WALK OVER to speak with co-workers instead of emailing them [Get those steps in and build relationships] 2: DRINK WATER and get up for refills [Stay hydrated and take a break from your screen] 3: STAND UP when you're on the phone [Take advantage of phone calls to get moving] 4: TAKE REGULAR BREAKS from sitting every 50 minutes [Give your body a chance to recover] 5: LEAVE YOUR DESK FOR LUNCH [Take a walk or do something active during your break] 6: TAKE THE STAIRS instead of the elevator [Get your heart rate up and burn some calories] 7: MOVE YOUR RUBBISH BIN away from your desk [Get up and move to throw away trash] 8: LIMIT SCREEN TIME to stay more active [Make time for physical activity and outdoor fun] Companies like Google, Amazon, and Microsoft have already incorporated movement-friendly workspaces to boost employee productivity and well being. You can do the same. Companies that invest in employee wellness programs see a 3-5% increase in employee retention. So, let’s make a pact. Stand up more, move around, and let’s give our bodies the care they deserve. Are you guilty of sitting down for too long? Let me know 👇 - - - - - Share and repost if you liked this ♻️.
