🌟 Exciting Travel News! ✈️✨ Following the announcement that seasonal service to Seattle would return with Alaska Airlines earlier this summer, the airline has now confirmed flights will be year-round between YLW and Seattle-Tacoma International Airport (SEA). Alaska Airlines will offer daily non-stop flights, starting Dec. 19, with connections to destinations across the Alaska Airlines network to destinations such as Hawaii, Chicago and LA. Additionally, WestJet announced in July that they will begin year-round flights to the Emerald City starting early 2025! Did you know that Mill Creek, part of the serene Mill Creek Regional Park, runs right under our runway? This vital wildlife corridor is essential for maintaining the biodiversity and health of the surrounding environment, allowing various species to move freely and thrive. Preserving Mill Creek is crucial to prevent contamination that could harm the ecosystem. In 2020, YLW took a significant step by constructing a new oil-water separator. This system effectively prevents oil and silt from entering the creek, ensuring that the water remains clean and the habitat is protected. This year marks 25 years of the YLW Ambassador Program! From 19 volunteers in 1999 to more than 100 ambassadors today, these volunteers are the friendly faces sporting red signature clothing who are at your service—seven days a week and 365 days a year. We are so grateful to our ambassadors for adding a special touch to ensure travelers receive a smooth and easy travel experience. Year-round service to Seattle is back! WestJet is starting daily year-round service to Seattle starting in early 2025! This daily flight will unlock a network of U.S. destinations through Seattle and beyond, through the airline’s longstanding partnership with Delta Air Lines.Flights from Kelowna to Seattle will depart at 9 a.m., aligning with business travel schedules and allowing for connections to 24 codeshare destinations throughout the western United States, including Los Angeles, San Francisco, Portland, San Diego, Phoenix and many others. The returning 11:30 a.m. departure from Seattle will arrive in Kelowna at 12:37 p.m., providing ample same day opportunities for visitors to hit the ski slopes, head out on the lake or visit one of Kelowna’s wineries upon arrival.
