Kootenay Career Development Society (KCDS) is a non-profit organization based in Nelson BC, and offers support for both job seekers and employers. For Individuals: Career counselling, job search assistance, resume and interview preparation, skills training and workshops. We work with individuals of all ages and backgrounds to help them achieve their employment goals and connect with employers. For Employers: KCDS supports employers by providing recruitment assistance, job posting services, and workforce development programs. Nelson CARES Society is seeking a permanent part-time employee to acts as the Society’s General Administrative Assistant This is a benefited position upon successful completion of the probationary period. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Provides general administrative support 2. Agency receptionist backup 3. Provide program support and assistance to the Operations Manager, Executive Director and Board Qualifications: A minimum of 2 years’ experience in office administration and/or Information Technology (IT). Professional or volunteer experience in the Social Services field or related educational background is preferred. Job Skills and Abilities: 1. Superior verbal and written communication skills. 2. Respectful, clear, and helpful telephone and greeting manner. 3. Excellent IT skills and computer skills with proficiency with a diverse range of Windows-based software programs (i.e. Excel, Word, Canva, PowerPoint, Mailchimp). 4. Ability to deal with people in crisis in a non-judgmental and confidential manner. 5. Ability to manage a wide range of requests and interruptions throughout the day. 6. Words from our Director of HR, Tara: We recently celebrated KCDS's 20 years (and counting) of service to our communities, and Jocelyn Carver's 9 years as Executive Director. It was such a lovely evening that warmed our hearts. There was delicious food provided by The Block at Railtown, a symbolic cake cutting/passing of the torch between outgoing ED Jocelyn and incoming ED Savina Kelly, and even a fabulous tribute song written and performed by the legendary Judy Brown. :) We extend a gigantic thanks to Office & Event Coordinator Amanda and Payroll/HR Coordinator Judy for taking the lead in organizing the event. CHEERS KCDS!! Here's to 20 more years of supporting our communities! Thank you all for being part of this journey.
