Join us as we come together to recognize International Overdose Awareness Day (IOAD). Across the globe, people are uniting to prevent overdose and honour the lives lost. Locally, we’re marking this important day with two impactful events today, and all are welcome! Event 1: Memorial Park (Hosted by John Howard Society of Durham Region) ⏰ 11:30 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 📍 110 Simcoe St. S., Oshawa Event 2: The Corporation of the Town of Ajax IOAD Event ⏰ 2:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m. 📍 Ajax Markets, Ajax Community Centre, North Parking Lot, 75 Centennial Rd, Ajax Our Opiate Intensive Case Management team is also hosting a Memorial Table in front of Pinewood Centre at 300 Centre Street South in Oshawa. The table, available for visitors all day, features a plaque and painted rocks honoring loved ones. This heartfelt project, funded by the Lakeridge Health Foundation , was created with staff and clients to highlight the gaps in the system and enhance support for overdose survivors. Pinewood Centre’s RAAM Clinic, Opiate Intensive Case Management, Community Outreach, and Durham Mental Health Services are coming together on August 29 to mark this significant day with two events aimed at raising awareness and providing support. This week, we had the incredible opportunity to connect with the talented youth at the DRPS- Durham Regional Police Service Youth in Policing C.A.N.
