Did you know? In September, we observe the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a time to honour the children who never returned home, the survivors of residential schools, and their families and communities. At MFRC, we believe reconciliation is not just about remembering the past but also taking active steps towards healing and fostering inclusivity in our community. This photo captures a powerful performance during International Women’s Day earlier this year, a reflection of the strength and resilience that drives our efforts for a better future. . . #TruthAndReconciliation #CommunityResilience #ReconciliationInAction

Connect. Belong. Thrive.
About us
Malvern Family Resource Centre (MFRC) is an essential and trusted Community Hub that connects, engages, and takes collaborative action in supporting our communities to thrive. We use our public spaces, and our deep and authentic connections, to bring people together with a focus on those that need us the most. In 2023 MFRC provided impactful, holistic, and highly accessible programs and services to 16,000 children, youth, families, women, newcomers, and seniors. Our children’s program supports young and school-aged children to get a great start. Our Malvern Urban Farm drives fresh food access, with our Youth Hubs providing a safe and welcoming space for young people to connect. Our Inclusion, Diversity, Equity and Accessibility team delivers targeted programming that focuses on building more equitable and just communities. We offer counseling and resources for survivors of gender-based violence and our older adult members engage in social, educational, physical and mental wellness programs. Finally, our newcomer programs engage and support new community members through language classes, cultural orientation workshops, employment assistance and community engagement activities.

[#ContentWarning: Suicide, please take great care if this topic is triggering for you] Suicide is a global public health challenge, with over 700,000 deaths annually. The theme for World Suicide Prevention Day 2024-2026, "Changing the Narrative on Suicide," calls on all of us to start the conversation and reduce the stigma surrounding mental health. In 2023, MFRC, through its mental health and wellbeing programs, conducted over 200 supportive counselling sessions and provided ongoing case management services. These efforts are crucial in creating a safe space for individuals to seek help and support. Let’s continue to encourage open conversations and build a community where mental health is a priority. . . #WorldSuicidePreventionDay #StartTheConversation #MentalHealthMatters #MFRC

And 1 in 5 children and youth in Ontario will experience a mental health problem at some point. Yet more than a quarter say they don’t know where to turn for help.
