We're getting ready to dig the first subway tunnel under Toronto's downtown core in over 60 years for the future Ontario Line. But first, we need a launch shaft! Union Station isn't just a transit hub—it's a portal to the past! Recent work on the Union Station Enhancement Project (USEP) as part of GO Expansion has revealed several interesting discoveries from the mid-19th century. The archaeology team has uncovered multiple wharf structures and other shoreline infrastructure, along with household artifacts from the time period. Just a few more days until the Toronto Caribbean Carnival! The carnival will be happening just steps away from Exhibition GO, and attendees can expect to see 10,000+ masqueraders, live steelpan performers, floats and more. Highlights of this year’s carnival include the King and Qaueen showcase happening tonight at Exhibition Place, where mas band leaders will display elaborate costumes, culminating in the crowning of the carnival's King and Queen. Attendees can also check out the Friday Night Mas, also taking place at the Exhibition grounds tomorrow, which will feature dazzling LED costumes and spirited dancing under the stars.
