**Attention: Important Update for Your OneDrive for Business Accounts** Microsoft has announced a significant change coming in January that could affect your OneDrive for Business accounts. If an account has been inactive for more than 90 days and doesn’t have a license, Microsoft will automatically archive it. This could include accounts of former employees or any accounts where the license has been removed. Once an account is archived, you’ll lose access to it, and recovering it won’t be easy—or cheap. To retrieve an archived account, your admin will need to enable billing at $0.05 per gigabyte each month in the Microsoft 365 Archive. Fully reactivating the account will be even more costly, at $0.60 per gigabyte, and the process could take up to 24 hours. Why is Microsoft doing this? Unlicensed accounts can pose security risks, lead to file duplication, and create confusion within your business. By archiving inactive accounts, Microsoft aims to enhance security and streamline cloud storage management. To avoid unexpected costs or data loss, have your admin check for any unlicensed accounts now. Reports on these accounts can be generated through the SharePoint admin center under OneDrive usage.
