KL&A's 2024 Summer Site Visit Series is underway! Last week a group went to visit the nearly complete Northglenn City Hall! This 32,600 sf building is constructed of mass timber and is the first municipal building in Colorado to achieve CORE Green Building Rating certification. The facility will be Net Zero and will house the same divisions, departments and services as the current facility, along with City Council Chambers, two large public lobbies and two community rooms. We're excited to announce the completion of the Orange County Sanitation District's new headquarters! This 109,000-square-foot building includes a public lobby, board room, conference and break rooms, offices, and a catering kitchen. Highlights include a pedestrian bridge for safe access across Ellis Avenue and a hybrid superstructure of mass timber and steel braces. This project is designed to achieve LEED Gold and Net-Zero Energy certifications, showcasing our commitment to sustainability. The #masstimber structure at Membertou First Nation features glulam columns and beams with cross-laminated floors. The five-storey building, erected in just 16 weeks, showcases the efficiency of Quebec-based Nordic Structures' supply chain. Carpenters handled installation while DORA Construction Limited's crew managed finishing touches like fastening systems. Gerry Lalonde describes it as the quickest building erection ever witnessed.
