This year’s #ConeZoneBC campaign is coming to an end, but roadside work happens all year round. This morning in Surrey, the Work Zone Safety Alliance teamed with the RCMP, TELUS and The Universal Group in another traffic enforcement event. A total of 28 tickets were issued. Here’s what BC Highway Patrol were looking for when ticketing unsafe drivers: • Using an electronic device while driving ($368) • Speeding ($196 to $253) • Disobeying a traffic control device ($121) • Disobeying a flag person ($196) At all times, please slow down and pay attention in roadside work zones. The Slow Down Move Over law is something every driver should know, but sadly, they don’t. Drivers must reduce speed when driving near a stopped vehicle at the roadside with flashing yellow, red or blue lights.
