Sisters in Sync

We got a notification that May 21, 2024, marked 6 years of Sisters in Sync! Time has gone by so fast and we are still in awe of everything we've accomplished and are so excited for what's to come. As our team grows and expands, so does the need to have our own physical space so we can better serve our girls! After years of having temporary access to various venues in Hamilton that were accommodating for the time, we reached a point where some of the conversations we were having deserved a safe, private space, and Joëlle Kabisoso Kapinga's mother's basement could no longer hold all our equipment and supplies. We began looking for our own "home" in early January, and by February 28, 2024, we had found a beautiful 565 sqft place we could call our own! Though it still requires some work to fully accommodate us, we are thankful for the lawn chairs that we can sit on, the random tables left behind that we can work on, and the storage we finally have. We wanted to share this with you because you have always celebrated our wins and encouraged us to keep going! We just wrapped up an amazing 12 weeks of our 4th cohort of the BecomingHer program. Throughout these weeks, we supported an incredible group of girls from Cathedral High School, St. Thomas More High School, and Bishop Ryan High School here in Hamilton. Let's just say the end of the program is bringing up a lot of emotions! As usual, we took our 15 amazing participants to an end-of-program retreat in Caledon, where we enjoyed meals together, swam, played, and grew in our sisterhood. You Go, Girl! Awards nominations are now open! 🎉🏆 We are thrilled to introduce our two brand new categories: “Global Citizen” and “One To Watch”. This year, we’ve opened up some categories for adolescent girls outside of the City of Hamilton, and as young as 8 years old! Each award recipient will receive a $500 investment into their future.
