Volunteers at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada will be putting the finishing touches on a restoration project for the last variant ever built in Canada of the F-86 Sabre fighter jet. The Sabre’s restoration is scheduled to be completed in late September and its unveiling will be part of the Winnipeg museum’s celebrations to mark its 50th anniversary. Lifting off for Latvia. RCAF CH-146 Griffon helicopters were recently transported aboard a CC-177 Globemaster III to Riga, Latvia, where they will be reassembled and flown to Camp Adazi, the headquarters of the Canadian-led multinational battle group. The deployment is in support of the CAF's largest mission, Operation Reassurance. To maintain and augment an air detachment in Eastern Europe and respond to domestic operations, 1 Wing developed plans to manage its personnel and helicopters. In a bid to bolster northern businesses, the Government of Canada has announced a $6 million investment in Air North, Yukon's Airline. The funding, a repayable contribution provided by the Canadian Northern Economic Development Agency (CanNor), will support the carrier’s jet fleet renewal plan and infrastructure expansion, which includes a larger hangar.
