Last week, it was my immense pleasure to attend celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the Toronto Zoo - an extraordinary institution carrying out critical work to conserve, research, educate, inform and bring joy and assurance to community members and environmentalists alike (myself included!) Indeed, when I first moved to the GTA, one of my first activities was to visit the Toronto Zoo, and I haven’t stopped visiting since – because it’s a space that calms and soothes, yet informs and inspires… it takes you out of your normal day-to-day stresses and leaves you thinking about those with whom we share the precious planet with. An experience which, to mark the Toronto Zoo's 50th anniversary, is now being offered – free of charge – to Centennial College students throughout the academic year.
