A new batch of recipients of the Charging and Fueling Infrastructure (CFI) program has been announced. The rollout of EV charging infrastructure continues! More than 9,200 EV charging ports across 29 states, 8 federally recognized tribes, and the District of Columbia are included, including a mix of both Level 2 and DC Fast Chargers. It’s great to see more community EV charging infrastructure in the works. We can’t wait for all these ports to come online. If you’d like to learn how SWTCH can help you maximize the impact of EV chargers in your community (or at your multifamily, commercial, or institutional properties), reach out! We’re happy to chat. #EVCharging #Emobility

Today, Ford and TXU Energy in Texas announced free EV charging for their residential customers. 🚗⚡ This is a fantastic win for lowering the cost of EV ownership and an innovative utility program to test how well this incentive can shift energy usage to off-peak periods. However, this partnership currently focuses on single-family homes, where the financial benefits of going electric are already clear. But what about the 30% of the population living in apartments and condos? We’d love to see this partnership extend to multifamily owners and operators, incentivizing more investment in charging infrastructure and making EVs accessible to everyone, regardless of where they live! 🚗🔋 Exciting development for the #V2X movement! Sunrun has launched the nation's first vehicle-to-home grid support program in Maryland, using Ford F-150 Lightning trucks. This initiative supports the grid during peak demand and offers additional value to participants (up to $800 each for the 4 month program). More of these programs are crucial to transform the millions of EVs into active grid participants, ensuring a sustainable, resilient, and efficient energy future for all. 🚗⚡Is filling up an electric vehicle cheaper than a gas vehicle? The math says yes - if you have access to home charging. CNET crunched the numbers in this article (https://lnkd.in/gj5EzZAb) that compares the costs of charging an EV versus filling up a gas tank. They found it's substantially cheaper to charge an EV at home (at the national average of 16 cents per kWh). But what about the millions of apartment and condo residents who don't have access to home charging? They're often reliant on public charging, which costs around 45 cents per kWh (source: https://lnkd.in/gjE8au7K). At this price, the monthly cost of operating an EV is similar to that of a gas vehicle. At SWTCH, we're focused on bridging this gap by providing at-home charging solutions for multi-residential buildings—ensuring everyone can benefit from the cost savings and convenience of home EV charging, helping to drive the EV transition forward. #evcharging #Multifamily

🌧️🚗⚡ Today, Toronto experienced an extraordinary weather event with more than 125mm of rain falling in just a few hours. This caused widespread flooding and power outages, affecting more than 165,000 customers, including our SWTCH office. But thanks to our F150 Lightning, equipped with V2X technology, we turned a challenging situation into a manageable one. Drawing power from the car's battery, we were able to keep three of the most critical devices for our business running: WiFi, a coffee machine, and a printer (yes, we're still a bit old-school!). As extreme weather events become more frequent and intense, the resilience of our grid is more important than ever. V2G and V2X applications are proving invaluable, and today, our electric vehicle showcased just how essential this technology is. We're grateful to keep operations going, one caffeinated cup at a time. ☕🔌🚗
