"We were told routinely that this was not a space for women." LADIES, DOES THIS SOUND FAMILIAR? I love to witness what is happening with women in sports at the moment because MAJOR glass ceilings are being shattered, and record-breaking crowds are showing up to watch women play -- from PWHL to WNBA (Women's National Basketball Association) and soon with the Northern Super League. Catch my conversation with #PWHL Ottawa Captain Brianne Jenner on The Brand is Female | Femmes de marque as part of our mini-series presented by Good Life Fitness! Women entrepreneurs, feeling impatient? Never! 🤣 That was one of our panelists’ insights when answering a question about how women can be their authentic self when they start a business, perhaps more openly than with a corporate job. What a morning yesterday in Toronto, talking about women in business and social impact, with a stellar panel composed of Sevrine Labelle, who heads #ThriveLab for BDC, Althea Wishloff, of Raven Indigenous Capital Partners and Nadia Ladak, the brilliant co-founder of revolutionary period care company Marlow, moderated by our Founder Eva Hartling. Stats demonstrate that 80% of women go in business ‘to do good’, and it’s inspiring to see that there is now an ecosystem in place to support their expansion and growth when they do. Thank you to everyone who joined our TBIF Conversation Series event at TD in #Toronto! TD Women in Enterprise is our presenting partner for the Conversation Series, and we’ve had a blast hosting these talks across Canada for the past year! We’ll be back in the fall in Vancouver, Montreal and Toronto! Kate Taylor Martin is the founder and CEO of nutbar, a Toronto-based healthy cafe redefining the concept of on-the-go nourishment. In this podcast interview with host Eva Hartling, she talks about her journey into the realm of holistic nutrition, which began during her time working in PR at a Toronto hospital. Struck by the fragility of health, she embarked on a journey to explore the healing potential of food and nutrition. This passion led her to enroll in the Institute of Holistic Nutrition, where she discovered the power of superfoods. She then found her calling: to educate and inspire people to feel their best through wholesome, nourishing foods. Fuelled by her newfound knowledge and a desire to revolutionize the coffee shop experience, Kate conceptualized Nutbar. Her vision was to replace the typical sugary, processed foods with delicious alternatives packed with nutrients and flavor. Since opening its doors in 2016, Nutbar has blossomed into a thriving enterprise, boasting multiple locations and a growing line of consumer packaged goods, including innovative products like their frozen nut milk launch.
