The Humber River Centre has been selected by the International Economic Development Council (IEDC) as a Bronze Winner of the 2024 Excellence in Economic Development Awards! Awarded under the Real Estate Development and Reuse category, the HRC was recognized as a catalyst for job creation and economic growth. The Humber River Centre is a state-of-the-art community and business hub in the heart of downtown Bolton. The facility is the Town’s most energy efficient building, receiving significant funding support from the Government of Canada. Since opening in February 2024, the HRC has hosted more than 50 in person and virtual events, vendor markets, workshops and job fairs, and is home to a growing community of entrepreneurs. Thank you to the Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) for hosting the 2024 AMO Conference and to our provincial partners for hearing our Town priorities this week. The Town delegation, led by Mayor Annette Groves and CAO Nathan Hyde, with members of Caledon Council and staff attended 13 formal meetings with Provincial Ministers and politicians, the most ever for the Town, to discuss several priorities including growth and development in areas such as transit, parkland development, age-friendly communities, energy infrastructure, recreation, court administration, and economic development. In mid-July, Caledon welcomed 35 soccer teams from across Ontario to the Caledon East Community Complex fields for the Caledon Football Club’s first annual Heart of Caledon soccer tournament. Over 400 players and their families visited Caledon for the tournament. This tournament is just one example of a successful event held at a Town facility available for rent.
