The Town of Morinville offers convenient access to urban amenities while retaining the characteristics of a vibrant and flourishing rural community. With a population of 10,578 (according to the 2020 census), Morinville defines itself as a healthy business and residential community. Morinville's residents are young and family-oriented and are committed to keeping the town safe and neighbourly. The Town of Morinville is the centre of the Municipal District of Sturgeon County. It serves as the commercial centre for the surrounding district. Morinville is located in Sturgeon County (which has their offices in Morinville) and is poised on the doorstep of the City of St. Albert and the City of Edmonton to the south, follows the North Saskatchewan river to the east, reaches just north of the Town of Legal, and touches Sandy Lake in the west. The towns of Bon Accord, Gibbons, Legal, Redwater and many others are also located in Sturgeon County, as is the Canadian Forces Edmonton Garrison.
