Congratulations to volunteer Ron C, who was presented with a Vancouver Tourism Award nomination earlier this month! Ron was nominated by a guest after going out of his way to help a guest find Brando the octopus in the Quadra Island habitat. Vancouver Tourism Award nominations are a great way for guests to recognize staff and volunteers who go above and beyond to make Vancouver tourism experiences outstanding!

To celebrate World Environment Day, in partnership with the Vancouver Aquarium, children staying at Fairmont Pacific Rim in a Fairmont Gold Suite will receive an eco-friendly sea otter plush. The eco-friendly plush toys from Vancouver Aquarium are made from recycled materials, and feature sewn-in eyes and nose, and do not contain nurdles, which eliminates plastic beads and reduces waste. Similarly, Fairmont Pacific Rim is dedicated to reducing our environmental impact, including eliminating all non-essential single-use plastics from the guest journey. The Vancouver Aquarium is committed to being a place where all guests and employees feel welcome to make memories worth repeating. Some of our staff, including our Human Resources Director Vishal Mittal CPHR, marked the start of Pride month with raising the Pride flag at the Aquarium. #pride #pridemonth

The Vancouver Aquarium is honoured to have won 1st place in the Media judges and People's Choice categories in the Taco Challenge 2024 challenge. Our taco entry was described by one judge as "a classic well done taco. Refined, given the setting. The pickled ginger the best part. Never had it like that before." Congratulations to Chef David Lee and team.
