About

Adam McFadden is a Best-Selling Author, and the Founder of Firehouse Training, the fastest growing fire service training company in Canada. He has been a mentor for aspiring firefighters over the last decade and has personally experienced countless fire service recruitment processes, prior to accepting a career in the fire service. Adam is the author of an Amazon Best-Selling Book; Canada’s most comprehensive fire service hiring and recruitment guidebook titled “So You Want to be a Firefighter, Eh?” designed to assist aspiring and veteran firefighters across the industry.

He is a Career Firefighter, Hazardous Materials Technician and Associate Training Instructor for the Toronto Fire Services; and has worked previously in other career fire departments, and private industry emergency response and fire prevention roles. Adam completed a multi-month secondment role as a Training Officer, in the Toronto Fire Training Division. He has experience developing fire education programs at the post-secondary level, for professional fire departments and in the industrial fire safety sector across Canada and the U.S. He has also been a guest speaker for various conferences and podcasts, within the emergency services and safety industries.

Adam is an Executive Committee Board member for the Ontario Hazardous Materials Responders Association; a non-profit organization designed for professional development in the area of Hazmat response. He was previously chosen as the class valedictorian of his professional firefighter basic training academy, in Toronto.

He is a graduate of the Mechanical Engineering Technology: Mechatronics Program at St. Clair College, the Pre-Service Firefighter Program at Georgian College and the Fire Safety Certificate Program from Seneca College. Adam is a Certified Fire Inspector, Fire & Life Safety Educator and NFPA OFM Level II Fire Instructor.

Adam has completed Specialist Level Hazardous Material Training, and Company Officer Certificate at the Michigan State Police Academy, and is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Arts in Emergency Management, through JIBC. He completed a multi-day Field Chief Officer Training Program in Lansing, Michigan from Five Alarm Leadership, and also recently finished a Designated Officer Infectious Disease Certificate Program, with Public Safety Health and Redwave Technology FTIR Chemical Detection Training, in New York State.

His hobbies include attending car shows, assisting at the local racetrack in emergency response, volunteering with fire department charity events and spending time with his nephews.
