About
I co-founded Anima Leadership in 2006 when racial justice was unsexy and few saw the need for widespread change. Since then we’ve guided thousands of individuals and hundreds of organizations along the journey from basic diversity to advanced inclusion through compassionate teaching and road-tested programs.
I teach, analyze, design, speak and inspire inclusive change. I’m here for the vision of belonging as a birthright for all.
I also write. My first book “Breaking the Ocean: A Memoir of Race, Rebellion and Reconciliation” (Anansi, 2019) speaks to the lifelong journey of healing from racism. “This book could change you” said Ms. Magazine.
My latest book “Bones of Belonging: Finding Wholeness in a White World” (Dundurn, 2023) is a series of poignant, humorous and timely stories decoding everyday racism for ordinary folks. “Witty and poignant with powerful insights” said Toronto Life. Made the national bestseller list.
The third book for leaders of color is coming soon.
My podcast “Soundwaves of Belonging” hosts intimate and irreverent conversations with fellow change-makers. Available on AnnahidDashtgard.com.
