I've shifted focus to writing a historical fiction manuscript after > 30 years in corporate finance and accounting. I’m at the midpoint of a two year MFA(Fiction) degree and determined to complete my historical fiction novel by the end of the program in spring 2025. My background photo is of a Tudor estate built in 1909 for British industrialists Lord and Lady Northcliffe, founders of my unique Newfoundland hometown.

Testing the waters and paying attention to what does and does not float is perfectly logical to me. Jane Friedman provides similar advice. Be attentive to what’s working and what isn’t, then adjust. Waiting for the perfect water temperature before wading in is not the way to start to swim. Jump in. You’ll adjust to the temperature and begin treading water before you know it!
