You're facing last-minute changes for the conference. How can you effectively update sponsors and partners?
First, just breathe. There is ALWAYS something unforeseen that happens ahead of every conference. It has happened before and it will happen again. You aren't alone. Once your initial panic has gone away, explain to your attendees/sponsors what happened without additional commentary. Do not attempt to "put a spin on it". Just say it. The key is balancing the need for speed vs thoroughness. The worst thing you can do is incite panic. So don't send out a communication without formulating the alternatives and thinking through the impact to your sponsors/attendees. Nothing good will come from an email that just says "the conference hotel was severely damaged by a hurricane". It needs a solid plan to go with it. Breathe.

What do you do if your personal brand needs a boost during a career transition?
Dig your well before you are thirsty! This was a great piece of advice from author Harvey Mackay While it's critical to engage your network during a career transition, you should ALWAYS be engaging your network. That way when you are in transition, you aren't having to reconnect and restart relationships. Social media should definitely be your first stop - commenting, being active in groups, etc. But don't forget about your IRL network too! Attend local conferences and meetups. Volunteer at relevant associations. All of this will help make your transition smoother and get you closer to your career goals.

Here's how you can foster strong relationships with clients and prospects in a remote work setting.
Building relationships with clients and prospects in-person is hard. Doing it remotely is even harder, but the same rules apply: - Listen more than you speak - Be present (no distractions & no multi-tasking) - Bring value (aka be helpful) - Drop the corporate-speak - Stay in regular contact The goal should not be to replicate what happens in-person. Instead, leverage the unique aspects of virtual, like commenting on the person's background, sending video messages vs just written emails, and use "reactions" during discussions (we all love the applause icon). Above all, be human and be yourself.
