What are the benefits and challenges of using SMS marketing?
The phone is the most important device in the life of the consumer. It stores photos, contacts, email, banking apps and more. “Getting on the phone” demonstrates you have won the heart and mind of a consumer and won relevance. SMS is great but only if used wisely. Brands should: 1. Learn communication preferences - before a brand starts pushing messages, give consumers the opportunity to decide frequency, cadence and content for all messages. “Spray and Pray” or generic messaging is lazy marketing and will lead to opt-outs. 2. Personalization - Give consumers the ability to easily opt out and modify or change messages they receive. 3. Keep the device in mind - Make sure experience is responsive, easy to use and mobile friendly.
