PFA is recommended or endorsed by leading international health care organizations such as the World Health Organization, the Institute of Medicine, the National Institute of Mental Health, the American Red Cross, and the American Psychiatric Association.

PFA is a learned skill, and now health care professionals, educators, employee assistance professionals, first responders, and lay people can attend a 2-day training workshop to learn the Johns Hopkins RAPID model of psychological first aid. The RAPID model is unique in that it consists of a platform solidly grounded in evidence-informed and empirically-based components designed to address the needs of individuals in acute distress, while at the same time enhancing organizational and community resilience.

TCR is a 100% volunteer, no-kill, charitable organization devoted to the rescue of cats. All adoption fees and donations directly fund the rescue, spay/neuter and veterinary care of rescued kitties - along with their care of feral colonies. I get to visit the kitties located in the Kitchener PetSmart on Fairway and ensure these little fur-pals get out to play and know that I love them! While leading and working collaboratively within a team, a new (to be released, date TBD) eLearning platform was brought from an initial concept to a prototype to present to senior leadership at OntarioMD. As a next step I worked on the development of the functional requirements document with one of my team members to submit as part of the business case. I worked alongside the developer on program learning units in the proposed system to develop content, ensure clear flow, and different learning modalities were incorporated for better adult learning and retention.

This project required a great deal of organization to track and document all the steps in the processes, keep the project moving forward in a timely manner, and to effectively delegate tasks when needed. To respect deadlines and schedules of my colleagues, meetings were set with goal-oriented agendas and materials provided in advance to keep sessions on track and within appropriate timelines.

    Deliverables included:
Managing regular working group sessions with standardized agendas and tracking documentation.
    Solicited and tracked feedback.
Developed training materials and ensured content met provincial guidelines.
Integrated changes, where appropriate, and used QI methodology to test with the team and tweak, add, or discard those changes.
Updated model decks for the initial prototype to provide a demo to senior management.
Lead and collaborated on the functional requirements document for senior management.
Ongoing collaboration for the development of the learning units in the proposed system that would be rolled out.
