About

I have spent the past 20+ years imagining, building, breaking and marketing Software products of all shapes and sizes, currently serving as the Head of Product at Coconut Software and adviser to a couple of startups. Whether at work or at home, I split my time equally between making and creating a culture of making and entrepreneurship. "Why" is my favourite question. I value "What if" over "No". Action over "What if". Walk and talk over stuffy rooms with slides. I'll take the word of your current or future users (or the data you have about them) about you over your own words about yourself. I hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Software from Carleton University, an MBA from the Rotman School of Management and am hard at work on earning a "Father of the Year" mug.

My work is heavily influenced by the belief that tech for tech's sake is wasteful (double down on the "why" and not on the "what") and that as much as tech created a flat world, the world of tech has given rise to a lot of inequalities within it and at its edges - I act to address this.

For this Product Tank meetup we have assembled a panel that is spending its days at the intersection of product and AI to provide their perspective on the how AI is (not) changing the product management function. Expect a lively debate with the ultimate goal being an attempt to answer whether AI will kill the product management function.

Our team has invented a pill box that tweets. If you're worried that you forget to take your medication or, more importantly, that a loved one needs a reminder to take their medication, you can use our mobile app to "program" the pill box. Once programmed, the box will let anyone "following it" know if the owner of the box forgot to take their pill or actually took it. We are a team of product managers, software and hardware architects (we even have a literal rocket scientist on staff) and designers that have forgotten to take pills more often than we'd like and who have elderly parents or grandparents whose health keeps us up at night. We believe that changing our healthcare system, understanding how certain drugs or drug combinations impact our overall health starts one life capsule at a time. A connected circle of care empowered by data and analytics from the cloud is the answer to a proactive self learning healthcare system.
