The Personal Disaster Assistance (PDA) Team is activated to respond and provide assistance for up to the first 72 hours following a disaster. The incumbent of this position is responsible for conducting a needs assessment to determine the needs of the clients. The PDA Responder will provide, as appropriate to agreements with the local authorities, Emergency Social Services (ESS) for relief, referral services and direct assistance for recovery, as well as, works with the PDA Supervisor to plan and organize ongoing preparedness activities. The Student Advisors’ Conference provides participants the opportunity to enhance their professional skills and become familiar with new challenges and initiatives at post-secondary institutions across Alberta. This year’s theme of "Creative Engagement: Connecting and Strengthening Communities” focuses on using better communication strategies to facilitate and create stronger advising communities.

- Aim to empower youth to become socially engaged.
- Help out We Day. An annual series of an event to bring together youth in an inspirational event as part of yearlong educational initiative.
- Participate in events and programs to increase social awareness in hunger, poverty and human rights

-We are the way-finders who help guide patients and families around our busy facilities
-Friendly visitors who spend time with our socially isolated patients
- Patient and family advisors who provide input and direction to AHS on numerous committees
-Supporters of our volunteer retail operations - where the proceeds are returned to AHS to provide patient care and comfort.

-Coordinate volunteers to assist individuals impacted by natural disasters.
- Fund raise and provide support through collecting canned goods, clean water and funds.

-Coordinate fellow students to participate as a peer tutor

-Assist younger elementary children in basic reading skills

-Help develop literacy skills and study skills to elementary students

-Promote health and safety on U of A campus
-Promote significance of first aid
-Work to provide skilled first-aid coverage to other student groups

-Conferences to address mental and physical health issues on U of A campus
-Help with the international student mental health campaign
-Participate in discussions around topics of health on campus and discuss further changes needed.
