Other more unpleasant, but equally important tasks.

Just some of the wonderful successes!

  • Linking Arts to Healthcare in many tangible, applied, and helpful ways for creative minds

    Arts and Culture

In very special instances, as a consultant, I help people discover creative venues and new directions where their interests in the arts - painting, singing, weaving, designing, constructing, dancing, sewing, playing an instrument, reading, writing, acting - lead to new paths towards health and healing for them, and for others in their lives.

    By special arrangement only.

    Health

I like to think that time I have spent helping people explore their creativity - in order to move beyond grief, and loss, and anger, and setback, and sadness - has been a shared journey of Joy and Renewed Belief in a gentle embrace of Spirit working in us, for us, and through us. Bravery through dark moments has created a strength of Friendship and Fierce mutual support that is unshakeable, and sustaining. Love always finds a way through the Impossible.

An advocate of the oral tradition, the ridiculously "wild, wooly and philanthropic" nature of The Empire Club appealed to me, most particularly, during my tenure at Lambton College as an Associate Professor, but also, through the years, has proven to be a wonderful, possibility-making link between sociopolitical groups, and those for whom the oral tradition, the opportunity and desire to speak and share insights and visions for a better, more hopeful society, and the idea of "Possible…

Membership crosses all cultures and religions, and my humble inclusion within its ranks is one of the affiliations of which I am most grateful, and most proud.

As a jazz and R&B vocalist, I was once upstaged by a sheep shearing at the Brigden Fair while being interviewed by a CBC reporter (which really was much more interesting, anyway, truth be told), but I have recorded at Grant Avenue Studios in Hamilton, Ontario, and sung at venues via the Army/Navy Club in London, various Blues Festivals, the Dundurn Jazz Society Festival in Hamilton, Ontario, various PowWows and Inuit traditional gatherings, private Jazz and Blues clubs throughout Southwestern…

All this, and I even managed not to create an international incident - now there's good work. Smile. (Plus, a lot of people now know the words to "I wanna hold your hand...." sigh - if nothing else, in English.)

I can't begin to tell you all of the ways in which my personal interests as a volunteer have fallen under this particular umbrella, but they have been varied, and numerous, and have involved literally thousands of volunteer hours, since 1987, when I became a member at a meeting in the Pastoral Care House of St. George's Anglican Church, Sarnia, Ontario, Canada, after being invited by a member of my church parish. My original chapter members - the Canatara Chapter - most of whom were thirty years' plus my senior - have either retired or have passed away, but I have retained my "Member in Space" unique affiliation, which has allowed me both flexibility of movement, and the joy of independence - and hilarity - for almost 27 years. One time I went for five years, and after travels to Asia, various industrial and tribal friendships, and some rather scary gun episodes, when I finally "checked in with the desk from space", I had five thousand hours logged....(they were also thrilled I hadn't died.) Go figure! Smile.

Have been a member for quite a few years now...Kiva.org makes the impossible dream seem possible again, for "dreamers" all over the world who might otherwise not have access to financial backing to make their visions become reality. My one little $25.00 start has been around the world and back again, and, wonderfully, a part of some wonderful success stories - including a village's first book store for a 200 mile radius...how amazing is THAT???? .....Why not join today?
