  • Stem cell transplantation and use of PLGA based nano particles for controlled and sustained drug delivery

PLGA based nano particles encapsulated with drug of interest was prepared. Duration and release rate was optimized based on the requirement. Nanoparticles were fully characterized and specific tissue compatability was tested. These particles were injected into the stem cell transplantation area to protect the transplanted cells from adverse tissue environments (Injured Spinal Cord, Infracted myocardium etc..) and facilitate differentiation of stem cells into appropriate lineage to replace the…

Nanoparticles were fully characterized and specific tissue compatability was tested. These particles were injected into the stem cell transplantation area to protect the transplanted cells from adverse tissue environments (Injured Spinal Cord, Infracted myocardium etc..) and facilitate differentiation of stem cells into appropriate lineage to replace the lost cell type in tissue.

  • Synthesis and evaluation of biodegradable and biocompatible nanoparticles loaded with protein/drug of interest for the sustained delivery of drugs in to tissues.

    - Present

Biodegradable PLGA based nano and micro particles loaded with protein drugs of interest is synthesized. These drug loaded particles were characterized for its physical properties such as size shape. In vitro and in vivo release of functional protein is measured. Toxicity of the nano and micro-particles are studied in vitro and in vivo models. These particles are used for the continuous delivery of the protein drugs in to CNS tissues.

  • Identification of target gene switches for Neuronal Progenitor Cell (NPC) differentiation

Identification of gene switches for neuronal stem cell differentiation. DsiRNA mediated down regulation of specific genes under differentiating conditions.

  • Protein Transduction - for the functional recovery of Spinal Code neuronal cells and stem cell proliferation

  • Role of Thromboxane receptors and downstream signalling on hypoxia induced persistent pulmonary hypertension

Role of Thromboxane receptors and downstream signalling on hypoxia induced persistent pulmonary hypertension was studied using molecular biological approach. Techniques such as point mutation, transient transfection, calcium imaging. second messanger signallings such as IP3 and cAMP was studied. Developed a method for the assay for adenyl cyclase enzyme assay.

  • Role of dopaminergic neurons on pancreatic islets cell proliferation.

Dopamin D2 receptor signalling on central nervous system was studied. Effect of specific dopaminergic neuronal stimulation on pancreatic islets cell proliferation was studied.

  • Effect of traumatic Brain Injury on long born healing.

Long born in human seems to be healing quickly with the patients with traumatic brain injury. The reason was not well understood. Bone callus from patients with or without traumatic brain injury was studied for its growth pattern and changes in mitogenic factors.

  • Potent Suppressive effect of green tea polyphenols on transplanted tumors

Green Tea polyphenols were extracted, its composition was identified using HPLC. its effect on transplanted toumors were assessed.
