What are the best ways to use lecturing to promote critical thinking and problem solving skills?
One of the best ways to test whether your students are learning is to ask them to synthesize new arguments using what you've taught them. I make my midterms "open-book," (and some questions even require the use of ChatGPT), but my questions all require critical thinking and analysis.
