Founder, CEO AI Fund, Investor, Board Member, Microfinance and Innovation

Sheetal has 20 years of experience as a founder, investor, board member, social entrepreneur and 2X TEDx speaker. In March 2022, she was appointed Strategic Advisor to President Bill Flanagan, University of Alberta, to create and implement an innovation fund to commercialize IP and fund spin outs from the University. Previously, she served (by appointment) as CSO for the Government of Alberta’s Ministry of Jobs, Economy and Innovation where she directed strategic insight to the future of technology, innovation and venture capital with a focus on AI.

She was Deal Maker (by appointment) for the UK Government’s Global Entrepreneur Programme for 14 years where she facilitated fundraising of over GBP 1 billion, assisted 900 companies to scale globally, and taught hundreds of master classes on entrepreneurship and investing in LATAM and North America.

Sheetal was also one of the first .NET Evangelists and worked directly for Bill Gates where she created and implemented the first corporate innovation arm and VC strategy in Silicon Valley and then globally with a base in London.

As founder of Shanti Life, a not for profit solution for financial inclusion and empowerment for vulnerable women, her team focused on access to safe sanitation and the creation of small businesses through low interest loans which are recycled in a pay it forward model. In 2022, they started working with Albertans to ensure financial empowerment and inclusion to those who need it most.

Sheetal is a spokesperson on entrepreneurship and microfinance, having presented at Cambridge, LSE, Doha Forum, Big Society, House of Lords, Stanford, TEDx and other prestigious forums. She has received several awards including: Microsoft Alumni Integral Awards (2012-13); Alumni Award of Excellence from the University of Alberta (2008); Buckingham Palace for “Women in Business” reception hosted by Her Majesty, The Queen; Award for Entrepreneur of the Year by Asian Woman Magazine; Management Today Magazine 35 Under 35; Success Magazine No 5 of top most powerful Asian women in the UK (2006):Asian Women of Achievement: Social and Humanitarian (Prince Charles and Cherie Blair) for taking technology to developing communities in India and Africa (2005)
