Now Retired! YAY! Currently working on developing my core-corporate structure to move back into the world of entrepreneurship and to create the kind of dynamics I and others thrive in.
My experience over 43 years includes 14 years in the Royal Canadian Navy as a Communication Technologist where I personally supported a multitude of very complex and security diverse communication systems in high pressure no fail sea and shore environments. I’ve been awarded several times for innovation and continually recognized as a top performer. When I submitted retirement papers in 2002 to stay put and start a family, I was offered a civilian position so I could continue to work for the Navy supporting the Pacific Coast Fleet’s IT infrastructure and raise my family in place with no need to move.
21 years I working, supervising and managing every IT stream. Those include infrastructure support for the formation campus’s and various on-ship, ship-to-shore and satellite systems, application development improving identity management, and asset tracking. I helped establish a regional call center providing an enlightening view of systems integration and especially client engagement! I was actively involved at the National IT strategy level to guide them toward a viable IT solution. I was named lead on the pilot in the Pacific Region for a modern IT support system due to previous developments that we're ahead of other departments. I use modern inclusive management techniques, using only constructive approaches.
I create efficiencies, eliminate waste work, improve service times, and built cohesive collaborative and engaged teams. My unique and broad base of experience, education, and accumulated knowledge gives me an insight or a wisdom to see solutions others don’t see.

How can you allocate transportation funding fairly across different regions?
Diversity of the population and circumstances should add an element of variety into the mix, no single mode of transportation should be looked at, but rather, multiple modes that are useful and widely support the demographic and origins of the population should be explored. Adding context to the funding needs to address the broad diversity of people that would use alternate means to move about. Knowing where people are arriving from and what type of transportation was available to them in the locations they came from would go a long way to add appropriate context to the allocation of funding for future developments.

Critical success factors and Key Performance indicators need to be time-scaled, the problem with this aspect is the election cycle limiting that view. Anyone taking transportation planning seriously, should be looking well beyond the election cycle and looking 20, 50, and even 100 years into the future.

How can you allocate transportation funding fairly across different regions?
One often missed component is the allocation of funding over time. Lessor population areas might be neglected over decades because of the higher concentrated population areas and voting powers, leaving them without. Transportation funding should be planned and time-reviewed for an element of fairness. While it's understood that a lack of historical planning may be at play in the larger concentrations costing an order of magnitude greater costs to correct, preventing future financial impacts based on lessons learned should be high on the radar.
