REPORT: Spurs, Milan getting closer in negotiations for Royal transfer

Looks like they’ve nearly made a COMPromise

We’ve written a fair bit about Emerson Royal this summer. Everyone’s favorite Twitter Comp star has been heavily linked with a move away from Tottenham Hotspur for some time now, with AC Milan reportedly deep in negotiations to sign the Brazilian.

There’s been a number of rumors in the last week or so that the two clubs were drawing closer to an agreement in their negotiations over a transfer fee, but nothing with much veracity... until now, that is:

According to Tom Allnutt in this piece for The Times, Spurs have dropped their original asking price from £25 million to £21 million, while AC Milan had been hoping to pay a paltry £15 million to secure the services of the right back. Unfortunately, the majority of clubs on the continent right now aren’t exactly flush with cash, and with Spurs likely wanting to replace Royal with a better fit for Ange-ball, a level of compromise is expected.

The long and short of from the report is that all sides are now confident a deal can be done, with Milan likely to come up from their initial bid but potentially hoping to pay under the £20 million mark. It’s honestly a pretty good price for a player still on the young side and with two years left on his contract; but Johan Lange will know that if he is to continue the rebuild in Ange Postecoglou’s image then players who don’t fit the bill need to be moved on and the fee and wages reinvested.

It seems only a matter of time until this one gets over the line; we’ll keep you posted.
